We signed our son up for piano lessons with Mr. Kurt. Unfortunately, our son wasn't enjoying it and the lessons weren't working out, so we decided to cancel. The cancellation process was extremely painful. Make sure you read ALL the fine print because they will "nickel and dime" you anyway they can. Between Easter Monday, Spring break, the down payment and the cancellation policy, we ended up paying $620 for four 30min piano lessons. Overall, not a great experience.

Starting guitar lessons at Columbia School of Music has been a positive transformational experience in my life. I am in my late 40s and didn't think it was possible to learn music later in life, but Mr. Kurt proved me wrong. I am learning something new in every class and making progress everyday. The sessions are fun and engaging, and I look forward to them every week.
Mr Kurt teaching demonstrates the perfect mixture of patient practice for improvement and new pieces that keep the motivation constant. It has been worth every minute of my time.

During the past 8 months, our daughter has learned how to play, read and understand music at Columbia School of Music. Mr. Kurt has a unique style of teaching that brings out the best in all of his students. He is fair, patient and takes time to make sure that all students produce quality work. Mr. Kurt is truly dedicated to teaching and sharing his craft.

We have had our children attend Columbia School of Music for 6 years since the oldest was 6 years old. We cannot thank Ms. Mary enough for the kind and effective piano instruction she has provided as well as her flexibility with accommodating our changing schedules. Would absolutely recommend this school for piano without reservation.

Worst experience with this music school, both on the knowledge side and service side. The owner only cares about the tuition and nothing else. We never saw his performance, even at recital. From our only five month experience, our kid can learn all the songs within couple weeks. After telling him that we decided to leave the school, we were told that we need to pay one more month tuition, and our kid didn't learn one new song.
We then figured out he purposely cancelled our last lesson, which means we paid the whole last month tuition only with three weeks of class. I decided to write this review because I want to share our experience with everyone else. To be honest, I don't how he got voted as the best teacher in Howard County. There are many great piano teachers in our county.
