Perrin & Assocs Fine Violins Perrin & Associates Fine Violins was established in Baltimore in 1994 with a vision to provide violins, violas, cellos, and repair and restoration services to the professional and aspiring musician. We strive to create an environment where all string players feel comfortable talking with us about their instruments, auditioning instruments and bows, discussing repair options, and trying out new accessories. We have a wide range of instruments on hand, from wonderful historical examples to outstanding instruments by great modern makers and quality instruments for the beginner.
Services
Since stringed instruments are created from wood, which is resonant and breathing even after becoming a violin, viola or cello, they can experience changes with the seasons and varying levels of humidity in the air. An occasional re-positioning or re-tensioning of the sound post will solve many of the issues that arise with response or quality of sound.
Our fittings are available in a variety of wood choices, including ebony, rosewood, boxwood and pernambuco, as well as some more unusual tropical hardwoods. Chinrests are stocked in a wide variety of styles, since the chinrests can have a large influence on comfort. Tailpieces may be wood or composite, and they also can alter sound significantly.
Perrin & Associates is pleased to offer a rental program to meet the needs of music students and teachers who require an instrument of exceptional quality. To encourage the student to learn proper technique from the beginning and provide a more enjoyable learning experience, our instruments are adjusted to the highest standards for optimum sound and playability.
After you play your instrument, use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe dirt and rosin off. A microfiber cloth works quite well. Unfortunately, rosin will eventually coat the surface of the top and fingerboard anyway. At this point, it is time to have it cleaned by a professional who will use a mild solvent and the appropriate polish.

I am a violin teacher and I have always had a great experience getting my own violin and bow worked on at Perrin and Associates. I've sent countless families to Perrin for renting or purchasing all sizes and levels of violins. Roger and the staff work hard every time to get the absolute best quality string instrument for the money you can spend.

Perrin is great! I brought my cello in for issues with my endpin. It was the end of the day when I dropped it off, and when I told them I was going to be unavailable in the afternoon through the weekend to pick it up, they had it ready mid-day the next day!

The staff are great. The instruments range from beginner level to. virtuoso (violin pricing from $500-$25,000). You can find what you need without pressure!

I couldn't be happier with the service I received. I will always bring my violin here for repairs. I don't have the best violin, but it is sentimental, and I trust the staff here to take care of my instrument.

Perrin is the best and most reputable violin dealer/restorer in larger Baltimore area. I bring my cellos here for repair and maintenance and always receive wonderful, professional services. I will not hesitate to recommend my students coming here to purchase or rent. The staff are delightful, knowledgeable and courteous. If you're thinking about getting a string instrument, pls go to a professional violin maker like Perrin.

Don't just go to a all purpose music store-they don't have the knowledge and expertise professional violin makers like Perrin's staff have-the difference in quality for the instruments and service is day and night.

I came in for various violin related services, and was warmly greeted and welcomed by very helpful and passionate staff. It is a beautiful shop, and they offer many different services and products. If you or your child play a stringed instrument, this is the place to go.

I love this place. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They give you space to try out the instruments and don't hover. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the parking situation. They have a few spots in the lot across the street, but if they're occupied, street parking is the only option, and usually there are no close spots. Very inconvenient when you're lugging a cello.

Excellent selection of instruments. Very knowledgeable staff. Roger Perrin is excellent to deal with. I bought a violin here several years ago. When a serious defect appeared, Roger brought out a selection of comparable instruments for me to choose a replacement. Every instrument I tried was perfectly set up. The staff helped me audition the violins and were very helpful. I am even happier with the 'new' fiddle than I was with the older one. This place has my highest recommendation.
