Cathy and her husband Blaise play music and work together in their family-owned businesses. Cathy's current version of Music Explorium is quite different from the one her husband, Blaise Kielar, created in 1999. After many years of offering a variety of strings, winds and drums from all over the world, Blaise's business focus turned to electric violins.
In 2005 Blaise branched off into a separate business, Electric Violin Shop. Cathy is no longer selling musical instrument, and has created a service business called EXPLORE! RHYTHM events through Music Explorium.

I attended the birthday party of a friend's seven year old. Now, I don't have kids so I am not used to the chaos involved in a kids birthday party. I give the Music Explorium props for guiding the birthday party along with a good balance of letting kids be kids and of guiding them through some music exploration activities. The kids got to make their own shaker musical instruments and play with lots of different types of drums and percussion instruments.
They learned about interlocking rhythms, call and response, and other musical concepts while still having fun. My only negative is that the space is a little on the small side. The party I was at had about 15 kids and around 20 adults. We all fit, but it was a little crowded. I can't speak to price/value because I wasn't organizing it. All in all though, the kids seemed to have a blast at the party and truly enjoyed banign on the drums and that's what counts.
