Services
Boomer Music Company opened in 1976 as a one-room, local, family owned business in downtown Fort Collins specializing in sheet music and instrument rentals. Over forty years later Boomer Music is still a local, family owned business that has expanded to include the largest sheet music selection in Northern Colorado, an onsite lesson studio with a dozen rooms, and in store repair shop for band, orchestra and percussion instruments and we continue our legacy by specializing in instrument rentals.
There are several good reasons to rent an instrument. For example when enrolling in a band or orchestra program in school, you will surely need an instrument at home to practice properly. Also as you progress you may need to "size-up", you may want an instrument of better quality, or a different instrument all together.
Cleaning and lubrication as necessary to improve playability (Customer is responsible for basic cleaning and care). Repair of open seams and refit/replacement of fittings (such as pegs, bridge, tailpiece) as needed. Loaner instrument at no additional charge if covered instrument cannot be repaired within 2 business days (subject to availability).
100% of the first three months' rental payment (not including tax or optional maintenance) is applied toward the outstanding pre-tax balance to purchase the instrument. 90% of all subsequent rental payments (not including tax or optional maintenance) are applied toward the outstanding pre-tax balance to purchase the instrument.

I brought my upright bass needing a variety of minor repairs to Boomer Music on a recommendation from a friend. They were prompt in diagnosing the issues, and were very transparent both in pricing and in what needed immediate attention versus what could wait until later. Once the repairs were completed, they called to let me know, and advised that they found some further issues once they started digging in and that they took the extra time to get everything squared away.

When I went in to pick up the bass, I was expecting and prepared to pay more than the original estimate due to the extra labor, but they honored the original estimate, even though the extra labor should have more than doubled the cost. I'm grateful for the honesty and transparency, and will definitely use Boomer for all of my music-related needs in the future!

Normally my go to shop for all things for the kid's band stuff, which says something because you are a good 40+ minute drive from where I live. Today I walked in there and was told I needed to wear a mask to be in the store. So I walked out. I understand they have the right to refuse service as they are a privately owned business. It's neither here nor there for me, but as my right, I will not wear a mask.

So I purchased my violin and bow and music on Amazon sitting in my car in your parking lot. That $$ could have been yours, now it goes towards making Jeff Bezos richer. Maybe when I need to come in to get it tuned you won't turn me away? Maybe I need to find a new store? I dunno.

This is a great place to get your music needs met! they have rentals and new instrument purchases. You can also get your instruments fixed up here as well. Lots of sheet music and all other kinds of music supplies. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Was a customer for years. My kids are grown now and no longer in need of their services but glad they were here when my kids were in music classes.

I had an excellent experience with Boomer Music. I ordered a rental for my grandson's summer band at the VERY last minute. I received a call soon after ordering stating she would have it ready to pick up in 25 minutes! I got there just as they were closing and an employee got my order for me before closing. Thank you Boomer Music.

Stopped by here to find a music book for a violin. A big online retailer messed up sending it to us twice. Staff here was able to order it and have it within a week. Look forward to being back when we need supplies and such for the violin.

I've known the owner for many years and have trusted his experience, product knowledge and customer service for my purchases and the purchases of my students. I've worked with several school and couldn't do without the high level of service and support provided by DrumsWest. Top notch store for your percussion and sound needs!

Love this music store. Have rented and purchased several instruments for my kids here. The quality is always great. Have had 1 instrument repaired at no cost as advertised with their protection plan. The music selection is very good. Can have pretty much anything ordered but have always been able to find what I need in store from beginner sheet music to advanced theory. The staff is by far some of the best I've encountered at any music store; helpful, knowledgeable, kind, and always cheerful, even through COVID!

Very helpful staff that answered my questions about my instrument repair and gave information about pricing as well. Their repair work was stellar and their selection of rentals, sheet music, and accessories has surely got what you need. I spent a bit extra to get myself ready to pick up my instrument again and they made it very easy. If you can take a trip to their storefront and browse around. You'll find something you are interested in!

From a middle school band director perspective, I think Boomer Music is excellent. You can rest assured that other local music educators who rely on them on a daily basis think very highly of Boomer too. - They visit my school every week and are always there on time to take care of all the needs that arise in my class. If I need music, equipment, or repairs, they get it done and I never even have to step foot in their store.

If there is ever an instrument emergency, they are usually there within 2 to 24 hours to help. - For the many students of mine who rent and buy instruments from them, they are high quality and always in good repair. As a band director, this is so important. Thank you! - Their owner, reps, and repair persons have consistently communicated with me efficiently and warmly.

The relationship that their owner has taken time to build with me as an educator, fellow trumpet player, and friend has really cemented the partnership between our institutions. You rock, Drew! - For musical instruments, equipment, and music they have always been able to offer competitive, if not discounted, pricing. - They are vital to the flourishing music scene in Northern Colorado. Stop reading this and go get that instrument! Go get those lessons! Make music!

Wish they had a more diverse selection of Violins in terms of price to purchase Settled on a rent to own violin. Pricing for those are good. Only 25 a month or a little over 1000 if buying that outright. The person who helped me said they were beginner/student Violins but they are technically intermediate Violins with the features they have, so student to musician.

Highly recommend. Good deals on everything else. The guy who helped me catered to my needs. Was not too knowledgeable about violins and was honest about it rather than trying to get be to get something out if my budget. Really awesome for him to be that truthful. Definitely coming back. The violin I got was made exclusively for the store and it's an awesome one. Very warm and rich sound, can get pretty loud too. Really recommend it

I am an adult horn player that took a 15 year break, only to find that starting over again wasn't as simple as I had expected it to be. I have taken several private lessons from Susie Fritts, and she is a miracle worker! I have had other instructors in the past who were considered top-of-the-line, but Susie has put them all to shame. She doesn't do the usual expected routines and exercises, but zero's in on a players' strengths and starts amplifying them and building confidence and the joy of playing in the player.

Even though I am at a very fundamental level of playing, she makes me think I'm really something! She herself is a beautiful professional horn player who thoroughly loves what she does and is generous in sharing anything she knows with her students.

I received the best customer service I have ever received here. We rented to own a cello a few years ago. It developed issues and they fixed it, no questions. For their step-up day we decided to see if there was a cello that my daughter liked better than the fixed cello and she fell in love with one. Bob spent 1.5 hours with her, bringing cellos up to a room and having her play without knowing what she was playing as to not be biased.

I also listened with eyes closed for the same reason, and the perfect cello was obvious to us both. Without disclosing too much, they made something I didn't think would be possible happen, and they have a customer for life. Thank you Drew! You have a business ethic unlike most. I will spread the word about Boomer. You just don't get service like this these days.

Rick at Boomer Music is the only person my daughter's instructor endorses in the state of Colorado for oboe repair and service. But if that's not reason enough, here's a story about what true customer service means: When we had a severe failure in one of the instrument's joints, Rick took one look and said do not repair this. It would never be the same and would likely break again in the same place.

In fact, it should be covered as a manufacturers defect (having purchased about 10 months previously, from another shop). Rick offered to box and ship our instrument out of state to the manufacturer, included a letter explaining his findings, and made sure it made it safely to Fox. Fox agreed that it was a defect and fixed the instrument free of charge.

My only cost was in reimbursing Boomer for the shipping. Mind you, we did not purchase our instrument at Boomer. But all of this service was done without any profit made to their business. That's going above and beyond and all of my future instrument purchases will be done at Boomer from now on. They've earned a customer for life in me.

After raising my musician sons and a personal hiatus of 10 years away from my own horns (. don't you hate when your job interferes with your hobbies.) I decided to start playing trumpet again for my golden years. In the past I have dealt with several very excellent music stores in the greater Denver area. Since I now live further north and the drive to Denver is just too cumbersome (to say it politely), I looked for a good music store with a good brass repair person in the Loveland/Fort-Collins area.

I found that in Boomer music. Below are the reasons why I give them the maximum amount of stars. 1. Service has been very courteous and knowledgeable in all their departments. 2. I could find enough trumpet sheet music and B-flat fake books to get me started again (I had given my old sheet music to my sons). I ordered a few non-stock items that came in within just a few days. 3.

My Adams A5 trumpet (borrowed from one of my sons) needed some very delicate valve work done. I was worried that the valves would need to be lapped. David however did this delicate work without lapping and now the valve action is as good as that of the very famous excellent valve action of the Schilke horns. 4. Back in the day I had been lusting for a Schilke B1 trumpet for many years. Boomer just happens to have a barely used B1 hanging on the wall.

They sold it to me at a very good price. David gave it a good cleaning and I now have a perfectly playing Schilke B1 horn. 5. I wrote down a few Boomer prices of different other horns and compared them to the mail-order houses prices. Well, guess what, they were nearly the same and some Boomer prices of the used horns were actually lower. In the mean time I found out that David has received training at the Shires trumpet Company were he did trumpet-work for Doc Severinsen. Yes, Shires produces the famous Doc Severinsen Destino Generation 3 trumpet, which I have learned to refer to as "the horn that sings".

It is a very expensive horn and maybe someday I will be at a good enough level and have enough money to buy one. I also found out that David is a very busy brass repair man. I therefore do not expect him to be available to me just when it is good for me. I have learned in life that if I want the very best professionals to help me then it may require some patience on my part as the very best are always in demand by many other folks. (No, I do not prescribe to the "me-myself-and-I-first" attitude). Boomer has completely earned my business.

This is very good as in order to promote our local musicians scene we need good music stores. The mail order houses probably couldn't care less about our music needs in Larimer County. In fact I suspect they don't even know where Larimer County is. Thank you Boomer and thank you David.

I bought a premium violin case for my son that cost over $300 February 2013. This case is defective and is starting to break apart by one of the hinges. I called Boomer's to see if there is a warranty. The lady said no, there's nothing we can do. I said Is there any way you can help me? She gave a great big sigh and didn't offer to give me contact information for the manufacturer or anything.

She wasn't helpful and didn't care. I had bought many things at Boomer's in the past such as an $3500 electric piano, sheet music, this violin case, $300 in bows, etc. I am very disappointed.

First visit here- Looking for a specific brass repair person. Though I had called in Saturday and was told he would be in Monday at ten- he Wasn't. A mistake by a single employee is regrettable, but having adjusted my teaching schedule and needing work done and havin driven and hour. Not a good first impression.

Does this place have the selection of an Amazon or Guitar Center? Definitely not but the prices are mostly in line and the staff is helpful without the attitude that can sometimes be found at the latter. If you're looking for a keyboard or guitar this may not be the place. That being said, if you need to pick up some music or accessories for a woodwind/brass instrument, this is a pretty good place to go.

Coffee shop upstairs is a bonus with live music on Wednesdays (although I have not been there for that). Lessons are upstairs as well. Plus, it's always nice to support a locally owned business.
