Carere Music was founded in 1989 by Tony and Karen Carere and has been in continuous operation since that time. The Carere family has been making music for many generations: Tony's brothers and sister all played, nieces, nephews, etc. As Tony spent his working years as the top-call woodwind doubler, he started buying and selling instruments. After doing this for some time, it was suggested that he practice officially in a business setting. Tony and Karen set out to provide a greater knowledge of what they knew best, woodwinds.

Carere Music has a very comfortable, welcoming vibe! I could tell right away that these people are genuine and honest. Jeanne, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable, obviously loves what she is doing, and is continuing the tradition of excellent service started by her family decades ago. As a second generation music store owner myself, one of the things I like to do when I'm traveling is look up small, local music stores and pay them a visit so I can see how they operate.

In my short time hanging out at Carere Music, I witnessed Jeanne demonstrate her great knowledge of the music business and deal with all sorts of situations with the utmost professionalism: selling and renting good quality musical instruments to eager students, young and old; taking in musical instruments for repairs; helping people find new owners for their musical instruments by selling them on consignment; teaching flute students of all ages, improving their playing on a daily basis. Jeanne obviously has a passion for teaching!

After hearing Jeanne's incredible flute sound and impeccable sense of pitch on the piccolo it's no wonder she's first call for all sorts of high level concerts all over the Southeast. My mother played the flute/piccolo chair in the North Carolina Symphony, so I know a world class player when I hear one. Every flute and piccolo player in the Atlanta area should be taking lessons with Jeanne! Jeanne, her staff, teachers, and repair people are all professional musicians with a great love for music and are deeply engrossed in the local music scene.

The repairman really knows his stuff and works so efficiently he has the fastest turnaround time in the area! Everyone was super friendly and giving of their time. One if the sax teachers took his horn out and played a few tunes with me. He was able to tell me where all the jazz jam sessions take place and give insights on what goes on at each one. I will definitely be back to Carere Music any time I'm visiting or traveling through the Atlanta area!

Carere Music is THE GO TO Music Store in Atlanta! Jeanne and her father Tony are amazing people! This business is made up of true salt of the earth individuals who care about their students and customers! They do all of their instrument repairs in house, unlike other stores, who's name rhymes with cubic and charts, that send your instruments out of state. Carere Music takes care of its patrons.

They do it for their love of music. One day when Covid is over, the arts will reopen. Until then, help small business owners, especially the ones who care so deeply about everyone.

Jeannie Carere has been most helpful in finding all the relevant resources that I requested. She cheerfully ordered and tracked everything. She is very professional and engaging to every customer that visits her business. I have no reason to go anywhere else for my music needs.

Brought my guitar in to see if they could tell me the issue with why it was not working with my amp. They stated their guitar tech would take a llok at it and get back with me in a few days. After 3 weeks i finally had to call them a second time (first time after 1 week he had not looked at it) and they stated he mostly just restrings guitars and does regular maintenance. It sure would have been nice to know this MUCH sooner so i would not have wasted 3 weeks!

I have unfortunately rented an instrument from This music store and they NEVER open on time. The door and website say they open at 9 am and they just don't show up. If your time is valuable, rent from another store. This is completely unacceptable.

I did not have a good experience in trying to place my Buffet R13 clarinet on consignment. Despite telling me they would market it within a few days, they never did. After two weeks I contacted store inquiring as to why not, and no one contacted me back. After three weeks, I contacted them again to tell them I would pick it up. Only then did they contact me back.

The excuse for not marketing was that the store owner was trying to gather funds to buy for her son. However, the owner then made an offer below what we discussed my netting on consignment. Despite never marketing it to the public. I picked up the next day and thank goodness I had taken photos, because they had placed an inferior barrel back in my case and not the one I brought them with my clarinet. I would have picked up the same day as when they finally contacted me back, however the owner didn't have my clarinet in her store, she had it at her personal home.

The repair was fine but getting a status update wasn't. Based on past experience I expected a call within 24 hours saying what they wanted to do. Four days after dropping off my flute I had heard nothing. I called multiple times, left a message on voicemail and the contact me from the website. After the repair woman having my flute for a week I get a call from her saying my flute was ready.

I'm not happy I didn't get to approve the repairs ahead of time or receive an update like I requested. This is not my typical experience with Carers but it is making me rethink taking my flute there again.

This music shop is relatively small, but they have quite the assortment of musical supplies. They have most of the Vandoren reeds, like V12's, Rue Lepic's, and even V21's. The prices for a box of reeds is quite expensive though. However, we visited the shop to get my clarinet repaired, and the guy at the front desk was understanding and helpful; he put my instrument at the front of the repair line. However, the actual repair man repaired the wrong part of my instrument.

He stated that the part that I wanted repaired had no issues, and replaced a part that had no issues, although he stated that there was a crack in it. The location is kind of isolated, but other than their repair mishap, the store is overall alright.

Awesome service. I just rented a trumpet for my 11 year old son. With insurance we will pay $12.35 for two months, then then the rate goes to a little less than $35/month after 60 days. Our sales rep was Joseph, and he was patient, considerate, and looks a lot like Edward Norton. I am very pleased with the service we received! I highly recommend this place!

Shed your preconceived notions about music stores before you walk into Carere- the walls won't be lined with guitars that seem to be perpetually on sale. Instead, Carere is run by talented musicians with expertise and information to share if you ask the right questions. Especially when it comes to wind instruments, there's no better place in the entire state to help you find those new fancy french cut reeds that you thought no one else knew about.

Neil is the man you want to go see if you have a saxophone problem. He is a master with difficult, vintage instruments. He was recommended by a professional saxophone players in Atlanta and I'm glad that I took the advice. He has overhauled two saxophones for me. Both times it was an overwhelming success. His prices are fair and he really takes his time with the young musician.

This man is a well-kept secret. I am was hesitate to write this review because I don't want them to be too busy when I have a saxophone problem. However, I'm feeling generous this morning so I'm letting you in on the secret of the saxophone master.

Called twice to have a piano teacher call back to schedule a lesson but never heard back. Wondering what's going on with its operation or cs.
