W e are pleased to create cellos fine enough to put our shop name on them and sign them. We work with a tiny luthier shop in China that we know well and trust. They create and ship us the ribs and parts to our design and specifications. Once they arrive here in our shop we pop off the top it has been spot glued for shipping to the US and begin to finish the work they have began for us.

Stephanie & the folks at Voss Violins were so lovely to work with. Responsive & honest, Stephanie took my well-loved (& a bit neglected) cello & bow into the shop, gave me excellent advice & overall awesome experience. I've been vowing to get back into playing after many years & this past weekend's visit to ASO (specifically for "Scheherazade") lit the fire for me & the team at Voss helped me get right back in the saddle.
I dropped her off Monday & picked up Saturday morning with a repaired body, new strings, bridge adjustment, freshly rosined & rehaired bow, and a brand-new ultralight case with wheels in a soft shimmery scarlet. I came home, hit some scales, played around w the Bach Suites for a hot minute & started working on "Rains of Castamere." The theme to "Dances with Wolves" also came back. Hello, random.
Thank you, Stephanie & team, for helping me feel more like myself than I have in a very long time. I'm so very appreciative. It's clear to me that some things are probably meant to stay in our lives.

Once you buy an instrument at Voss it's like you've joined a family. The staff, especially Stephanie Voss herself, take care of your instrument needs & teach you about what's happening with it, what's being done & why. Unlike other places, you never need to question ethics here. I can't say enough wonderful things about Voss Violins. the real deal ethical, knowledgeable professional! Thank you!

We traveled from the Philadelphia area to Atlanta to attend a family member's wedding. My daughter was asked by the bride to play the cello for the ceremony. After looking online for cello rentals in the Atlanta area, Voss Violins consistently seemed to be the best place to look. We made an appointment to audition cellos after arriving in Atlanta.
There was a terrific selection of cellos, and Stephanie Voss, the master violin/cello maker was extremely helpful in making recommendations. The rental process was very simple and the rates were very reasonable. If we ever need to rent another cello in Atlanta, there is no question we would return to Voss Violins.

I'm really surprised at the glowing reviews this shop is getting. I wish I were treated with the same respect these customers/clients were. Perhaps it's my instrument who knows. First of all let me say that NO MATTER WHAT THE MAIN BODY OR SHELL A BOWED STRING INSTRUMENT IS MADE OF still needs a luthier to do things such as set up, bridge, sound post replacement, or tail piece etc.
I have L&C carbon fiber cello and went to see Steph. to resolve a run of the mill wolf tone problem I had on the G string (on E) where typically a wolf tone will rear its head. She tried a few and put on a heavy gauge one and was able to knock off most of the wolf tone. For the life of me, I don't know why she took it off and says to me that I needed to 'take it back to the manufacturer'! Wow!
I felt like I've been smacked and seriously dumbfounded by such an ignorant statement! My cello though it's made of carbon fiber has been looked at by several luthiers who would have never say such stupidity. I have had my instrument reset, bridge shaven, endpin changed, tailpiece changed (of which Stephanie herself corrected!) and pegs redone and not one luthier would have said anything of the sort.

Went in just to ask about their shop and they were willing to spend a lot of time telling me about what they do even though I was a beginner not looking to buy. Some time later when I was looking to upgrade my very cheap Amazon viola I went to them and they had the best selection on ~$2,000 violas of all the shops I tried. The shop is under renovation right now, but even their temporary setup includes a private room with nice acoustics to play in. They let me take home 2 violas on trial and 1 of them was my favorite of the 8 I tried around Atlanta.

It's a great place, i got to know more about my violin and what problems it had. (And there was a few important ones than just strings) you can rent instruments here as well. Finally, they have experience making as well as giving great tips to beginners and experienced performers wanting to improve.

I brought my much loved 1929 English cello to Stephanie Voss, literally coming apart at the seams, & with a badly warped bridge. I hadn't played it for several years, & in the interim it had traveled from London England to rural Pennsylvania to Atlanta GA, during which time it had expanded/contracted/split/deteriorated. Stephanie repaired the broken seams & replaced the warped bridge.
Since then, I've started to play it again, & it sounds dramatically better than when I first purchased it in London. It's hard to make an ugly sound on a cello (even for me!) but Stephanie has made it as good as it can be - & in the process, has even made me a better player than I was.

I've been on the road working for some time now and my violin was in need of an adjustment due to all the travel and climate change between different cities. A friend recommended that I set an appointment with Stephanie. I'm glad I did! I described my concern to her and played a little. She adjusted the sound post and bridge. My violin plays beautifully and with ease again! I'll definitely stop by again the next time I'm in Atlanta!

I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of work at Voss Violins. My instrument and bow needed several repairs, and I am quite happy with the work that was performed. Both my instrument and bow have new leases on life. : I highly recommend Voss Violins for any string player that is looking for a quality instrument repair shop.
