After thirty years on the farm in Dixon, I have moved to the foothills of northern California! I am now located in Loma Rica, off Highway 20, between Yuba City/Marysville and Nevada City. Over the past twenty years, I have been doing vintage tube amplifier repair for thousands of musicians nationwide from my shop located near Sacramento, only an hour's drive from San Francisco and the Bay Area in Northern California.
To put it simply, there are plenty of people who will sell you new tubes or a "cap job" and call it amp repair; but my knowledge, experience, and reputation mean that you receive what your treasured vintage amp really needs.

Services
Please remember that the information on my site is for everybody with a vintage amp. Some are touring pros, some play at home, and some are collectors or dealers. Some people have tube recording gear, some have silverface Twins, some have tweed Champs, some have amps that are 70 years old, and some have what I consider to be "new, " i.e. amps from the eighties or newer.

Simple Skip Simmons Is the BEST he has a real feel for amplifiers especially for guys that own vintage amps and he knows how they feel about their amp I was ripped off Bad by a famous amp guru in Texas He charged my $1300 Plus shipping 2 times He pilfered my good Blue caps and overfiltered my 1963 Bandmaster that I bought from Hollywood parks and recreation it was a house in Hollywood bowl and when they remodeled it in September 19 71 they were selling all their back line amps me and my buddies from Hollywood Highland down there and bought almost all we could anyway Skip Simmons is a great guy

I have been fortunate to have known Skip since the mid 90s. He took care of my 65 Fender Deluxe Reverb, and 58 Fender Harvard. He also built me the coolest custom tweed princeton, and a JTM45 knockoff. All of his work is fantastic. He finds the best vintage components for the amps he works on. He is an engineering genius, and generally great guy. You can't go wrong taking your tube amp to him for repairs.

Thank you for an awesome job on a now AMAZING SOUNDING AMP! Skip took my beat up non functioning Silverfaced Champ and converted it to a tweed princeton tone circuit. He also converted the cheap RCA output jack to a nice Switchcraft 1/4. He and I also discovered that the New Transformer I sent him (To replace the fried one) had 2 additional taps that were of a lower voltage.
This allowed Skip's genius to come through and lower the Silverface Champ B+ down into blackface territory! On top of all that He gave me a free 6v6 power tube, and replaced my power cord free of charge! Great man! Great Work!

Solid work on my '57 Harvard. Sounds like it's brand new. We had a good chat to see what it was I needed out of the amp before he fixed it up (I fried some capacitors, was afraid the tubes were done, but he said they were fine) and after I plugged it in after getting it back, I was blown away. Can't that you enough dude.
