I decided to visit the Miller race village shops on September 19th on behalf of just getting out of the house and away due to a traumatic event in my life 2 months ago. Meanwhile we are still enduring a pandemic covid-19. I visited a few shops but was drawn to come to this shop and there I came across a wonderful shop owner. Mary is the owner and has a unique shop with hand made crafts that you can appreciate.
I think this is what is wrong with the world today is that we have all become acustom to items being made in China and tawain but we forget about the true talents that can craft wonderful pieces by hand and not machine which is why Mary's shop is that much more important because true art and talent is put into her crafts. It's not just about the craftsmanship but it's also about whom the person is and I got a chance to speak with Mary before my departure and learned a little about the shop history and how Covid-19 has affected the business.
I was devastated how the pandemic had impacted the business and I hate to see businesses like this fade away because then I'm left with a target, walmart or some new mall that has nothing unique. Mary learned of my situation that I had been assaulted and hospitalized 2 months ago and injuries that could lead to glaucoma and she could see my pain and I will say that just being there in her shop takes your stress away and Mary is a very caring and loving person in general.
Before I left the shop she had given me a gift from the heart which was a hand crafted basket that would be a reminder to keep moving forward whenever I felt like giving up. Mary's shop is by far worth a visit and believe it or not. There are many people in the world that appreciate shops like Mary's but can't find it hence which is why I would call it a hidden gem.

My family owns this business, and Unfortunately we will be closing the doors on having a storefront as of 10/31/2020. We will still have our business online however. We will also continue to teach our basketry and music lessons. For updates on what we are doing please check out our Facebook page which is always full of updates on what we are doing. Stay safe everyone!
