I had some string buzz on my guitar that I could not fix on my own and brought in for repair. I thought I was going to leave it there for a few days but they quickly diagnosed the issue (loose tuning pegs) fixed it and I was out the door in 10 minutes. Great service!

It's a really nice music store. I got a great clarinet there as well as a nice guitar and a lot of piano skill. I do find it a bit weird that it's pretty hard to find Gibsons on the online store, but that's not a problem for me.

I've frequented Melodee for awhile. They have taken care of my guitars when I've had issues, helped me assess condition and verify authenticity on guitars I have purchased, and have assisted me with finding strings that suit my playing style and maintenance items to keep my instruments in great condition. Every time I work with them, their staff are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and courteous.

I feel welcomed and appreciated the minute I walk in the door, all by people who share the same passion for music. Best example just happened today. I came in for assistance with a guitar purchased elsewhere that was creating a buzzing sound due to a loose pickup control unit. They diagnosed the issue immediately, fixed it thoroughly, and even complimented the guitar as they handed it back to me. And didn't charge me a thing. World class service, right there. I'll happily give them my business as long as I'm in the area. Highly recommended.

Confirming that grouchy old guy still works here. I went in to check out a very specific custom shop strat they had in stock (used). 1. They pulled it out of a shipping box, explaining it had sold but the order was cancelled last minute. I think the guitar was probably quite nice but the action was half an inch off the frets, and the neck so dirty it was sticky with the humidity.

So these guys don't know how or choose not to setup (or clean) a guitar they are selling. 2. I mentioned that the vintage silverface Princeton I tried to play the strat thru didn't make any sound, and I checked everything (power/speaker) was plugged in and it powered up. ( I used a deluxe reverb they had instead). Grouchy old guy said there's a standby switch, and I laughed, "On a Princeton?" And he said oh yeah.

The younger employee who had gotten the guitar out for me and was very courteous about it went over to check it out and verify that indeed, the Princeton doesn't have a standby switch. There is some decent gear in your store that needs work! And just a tip, someone walks in asking about a very specific $3k guitar (and then you hear they can play it) maybe try talking to them. Almost 20 yrs I've been down the road from this store, and I've easily spent $50k+ elsewhere on music gear. Actually surprised they are still around.

If you're reading these reviews, just know this is the best instrument shop around. The staff are friendly, helpful, and honest. Don't go to a big box store. Support this local shop that actually looks after their clientele. Prices are as good or better so there's nothing to lose. I spent probably six hours over the last two days playing all their guitars trying to find the right one. They were happy to have me there and never rushed me. Shawn and Mike were particularly helpful associates. Hands down the best music shop I've visited.

Just bought two guitars from here. Very nice staff. Nice selection. They actually had two Cordoba c12 on the showroom floor and their price was $200 less than msrp. None of the GuitarCenters had a single one in their stores and had to bring it from their warehouse a few days later and their price was higher. Very happy with this place. Forget online shopping. Always nice to support local businesses. Will come back for more.

Friendly, passionate and knowledgeable staff. Huge selection of stringed instruments like guitars and ukuleles. Had my 8 string ukulele serviced here. Service department was quick and responsive to my issues. Don't let the sterile exterior fool you, this place is a gem hidden in suburban stripmall hell.

Melodee Music is a great independent music store. I've bought guitars and other gear from them over the years and they're always helpful, friendly and fair. I brought a new guitar to them recently for some adjustments and they took care of me right way--did a great job.their customer service is excellent. Highly recommend!

I was looking to buy a Martin HD-28 3 years ago and happened into Melodee Music. Great acoustic guitar room with the stanchions and the velvet rope but, NOBODY waiting on customers. I've been playing guitar for 45 years and I'm not a novice or a 12 year old kid who is going to damage something. I carefully helped myself to the guitar that I was interested in and was working my way through it an had decided to buy until one of the sales staff came in and ripped me up one side and down the other for having the audacity to not ask for help in getting the guitar off the wall in order to play it.

I said, "Well, I was going to buy this Martin HD-28, $2,800 but, not from you, see you later!" Yeah, it turned into a very apologetic and pleading scene in short order, I relented and bought the guitar there but, I should not have done that as the only guitar that was available was the guitar on display and no discount at all. Martin's are pretty thinly built, they sound amazing but, they should not be kept out of their cases and hung on display for long periods of time.

It doesn't matter if the room is humidity controlled, they WILL dry out when left out of their case for long periods of time. Long story short, this HD-28 opened up a big crack in the top of it 3 weeks after purchase. No matter that I ALWAYS use 49% Boveda in the cases of ALL of my acoustic guitars. Needless to say, I was not happy and I'm just getting around to getting it repaired, at my expense now, Never again from Melodee music. smh. On the follow up, mentioned this to them and their response pretty much related to, "Too bad, that happens sometimes."

I had a phenomenal experience at Melodee during the busy holiday season. They were short two people but managed to squeeze me in during the rush anyway. Chris was extremely knowledgeable and kind and they got me in and out super quick! I highly highly recommend everyone come here for your musical needs. Also, great COVID precautions, I love to see a company that keeps everyone safe!

Melodee Music is the best! Helped right on the spot with a quick fix for my daughter's guitar. We have used them for several instrument purchases including a mandolin, guitar, and electric sitar and the have always gone above and beyond. Thank you Melodee music!

I LOVE Melodee Music. Massive number of electric and acoustic guitars and this is a locally owned store. Great staff & great selection. I would always buy from these guys rather than the national store, Guitar Center. Most of the staff are actual musicians that play local gigs. These folks leaving bad reviews, PLEASE, these are real people that work here, not smiling robots.

They have a true depth of knowledge and a passion for music. The dude that sells the acoustic guitars, I can't remember his name, but he's always VERY helpful. I've bought 3 excellent acoustic guitars from this guy. Please support Melodee Music.

Updated review now a few years later. This place is frustrating and they don't know what they're doing anymore. I took my guitar in to get the nut filed so I could use higher gauge strings and it came back worse than when I brought it in. The b string was dead sounding and I could t figure it out. I tried graphite and a number of other solutions so I finally had the chance and took it back in and they re filed it and told me it was fine and the strings were dead (they werent).

The intonation on my guitar is way off and I'm just tired of dealing with this. I'm going to a new shop which sucks because this is close by. Also my pickups are a mess as well since they replaced them, sometimes the connection isn't made for the neck pick ups. Just a bad job all around.

Unbelievably fantastic customer service. Extremely knowledgeable staff, they really take the time explaining things, and answering all your questions. Great prices and often have sales and they always tell you about them to help you save. Kind, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, AND they have great equipment. I highly recommend them. I'm a dance instructor and event host so having great equipment that's simple to understand and use is so nice. P.s. Chris is awesome.

This is a truly awesome music shop, especially for guitars. The staff is wonderful. The selection of guitars and effect pedals an boards is unrivaled in the DMV. Highest endorse! P.S. it's right down the road from the equally awesome Crooked Run Brewery, and so worth the trip from DC or MD

Chris, Mike and Rick are the best. Thanks really love this locally owned store. If you need any service or need to buy some new gear this is the best spot around. I have bought amps, accessories and different services over the years. Update, Chris junta installed new pickups, graph tech nut and a kill switch on my Mustang. He also repaired some wiring. He also set up intonation and restring the guitar. My cheap Squire Mustang plays as well as a way more expensive guitar. Really great work and I am very happy.

I've been a customer of theirs for 10 years now. I've always bought stuff here even when it was cheaper on line because I try to support local businesses. I've never felt compelled to write a negative review until now. Chris, your customer service skills just suck. Just because your point of sale system sucks and your employee doesn't know how to use the system is no reason to take it out on a customer as you did this week. I've dropped thousands of dollars in your store.

I know you probably don't care. Sure acted like it. People, buy your stuff somewhere else. Your money is best spent where the staff treat you like your valued rather that an annoyance because that's what you'll get here. Chuck Levin and Guitar Center, here I come!

Absolutely great store. Tons of awesome inventory and the reps are beyond friendly. They were extremely helpful and knowledgeable, I wouldn't mind stopping by the store just for the environment. They have a really cool display set above the entrance that establishes the vibe for the place. I'd definitely return.

The best guitar store in the DC area for mid lev l and high end acoustic guitars. No other store has anywhere near the selection of Melodee in acoustics. Not even Guitar Center in Rockville. This is also the best selection you'll find for violins, banjos, mandolins, and ukuleles. Melodee carries the whole range of Fender Amps. In regard to electrics they mostly carry entry level and mid level models with a few high end ones here and there. Guitar Center or Chuck Levin's would be better in that regard.

In guitar effects this place has about all the Boss pedals. They are a very committed Boss dealer and carry their amps also. They also carry a decent range of Digitech and MXR pedals, but not many of the newer brands. They have a great selection of guitar straps and Seymour Duncan pickups for both guitars and basses. Because this is a privately owned store, they will sometimes give you a discount on an item you're interested in. Don't be afraid to ask! Just be polite.

To say I was impressed would be an understatement! It was so refreshing so see a local music store with such a range of very high quality instruments. All the staff was extremely friendly and they personally provided time to make sure I was able to sit down and play any instrument that I was interested in. If you do not want to be treated like a number at the Walmart of music stores(G.C.) then you need to do yourself a favor and make this store your go-to.

Melodee is my go-to music store for guitar work. First with Rob and now with Chris. They do a great job on both acoustic and electric guitar set ups. And there've been a number of times where it was a simple tweak like lowering action or minor adjustments where they didn't charge. And TM Hannah also does a terrific job if you're looking for a new guitar! Definitely ask for him if you want help. One more thing. wouldn't you rather support a local business rather than a huge, indifferent chain?

Horrible experience at this store. If you are new to playing an instrument, consider going somewhere else. The counter guy (Lets call him Chris, or "the beard") was patronizing and degrading. I simply took a guitar in to get professional setup and within minutes he came out with the diagnosis that the frets needed levelled (or replaced). I also presented him with a decent bass as trade in. same fret deal. Got the "I'm gonna pass" comment from him for trade in.

The guitar I wanted setup was an Urban acoustic. If he was professional about the services I might have considered it. Instead, the "beard" had to go on about what a scam and ripoff it was in front of lots of customers vs. just telling me what my options were. Very unprofessional and quite douche-y. Made me feel uncomfortable and bad about asking for an opinion.

Now the bass. a pretty decent, new Rogue that was never played. Since I would never play it, I would have taken anything as credit and would have walked out with the Taylor I've had my eye on. Instead, the "Beard" chose to shoot that down too, vs. Throwing me a bone to their benefit. Their only saving grace was the helpful sales dude in the acoustic room.

He really knew his stuff (and is a great picker, too). I would have stuck around longer to check out every guitar he showed me, but my goal was to leave and never go back. I am a drummer who is dabbling in guitars now. I've bought lots of overpriced items there and dealt with them because the are the only game in town. Not any more. will take my business elsewhere.

They currently they have a deal on a Fender FA100. Don't even consider it. They have to liquidate it because they are under contract with Fender to buy pallets of it to remain an authorized dealer. The guitar is not reviewed well and is sold cheaper than their sale price elsewhere. Bottom line. if you are interested in any particular instrument, go to Melodee to check it out, but go purchase it at a more reasonable price and get better customer service elsewhere. It's no wonder they had to shutter their Leesburg store.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I've lived within a few miles of Melodee Music for 12 years and only recently set foot in it. My renewed interest in playing guitar and salivating over a guitar they were selling online caused me to want to look it over and play it. What a super place! Walls of guitars, amps on the floor, a humidor-style room for acoustic guitars, a library of songbooks beyond compare, and a full area for lessons.

Talk about full service! The other night I had reason to take a guitar not purchased there in for some service. It only required a small adjustment - so small that they didn't even feel the need to charge for the work, even though I offered to pay. These guys love music, love guitars (probably other instruments as well, but I focus on what I know) and are supremely knowledgeable.

I have taken guitars to a luthier in Arlington, which amounts to a full-day effort. These guys are minutes away, have real store hours, and are still selling that lovely guitar. If it's still there when my tax refund arrives.
