Gilmore Music founded by my father, Glenn Gilmore in 1944 at 1935 E. 7TH St., Long Beach, California. We are still here today, which makes this location a historic attraction. His dream was to share his love of music. Glenn was self-taught in the art of repair and was sought after by professionals and school districts in Southern California, for instrument repairs.
Our open mic night offers an opportunity for local musicians to perform in front of an audience and gives them a chance to try out new material. It builds confidence and is an important part of the musical experience. We offer an environment that is comfortable for the artist. Our engineers at GMG Studios are experienced working with solo artists, group vocals, small orchestral ensembles, and many other types of bands and ensembles. The engineers are efficient, sensitive to mood/vibe, and dedicated to maintaining a comfortable and productive atmosphere for each artist.
At Gilmore Music, our products are priced with consideration. Everyone knows quality when they see it because we are not only a store but an experience that you will remember. Stop by to try out an instrument of your choice and you will see that our unique items can only be found in-person. That's why our customers keep coming back. Enjoy the instant reward you will get from the amazing service and support of our knowledgeable sales staff!
Because our instruments are less expensive, less money is spent over the duration of the school year. The instrument is purchased at the beginning of the school year and used by the student for usually the whole school year. At this point, the instrument belongs to you. However, you don't have to keep it if it isn't needed anymore, you can return it and at that time a rental fee will be calculated and a refund will be issued.

I'm extremely happy I was reccomend to Gilmore's Music Store for my turntable service. From the start the staff was extremely friendly and easy to speak with, the pricing was very fair as well. Big shout out to Andre the work he did and his ability to break down everything to me step by step was great. He communicated frequently with updates and was very knowledgeable that I feel like I learned so much from our conversations. I highly recommend this store.

It's bitter sweet. Its nice to see a mom and pop music store because as apposed to the big store that don't tend to value an individual customer as much. However; my local sam ash store treated me better, the owner Mr Gilmore tends to dictate what will be done on your instrument instead of just giving an expert opinion.

I've ALWAYS BEEN TREATED KINDLY HERE, and the staff is credible, and easy to work with! As a musician myself, I like the the Mom& Pop atmosphere, and if they dont have something U need, they will help U get it from them and order it, and if not, they're professional enough to help U find it elsewhere! Great little music store! I wish they stayed open later though!

I was playing a song on the woodblock while having service to my guitar and the old guy in the back said I was ignoring him on purpose. He's so cranky. I don't want mean old scrooge grandpa to scold me. The store is over packed and cluttered anyway. Go to guitar center, they don't get upset when an instrument is played. My mom has been supporting this business for years by taking me here. They're overpriced anyway.
