SKY GUITARS DOES IT AGAIN! This is my second purchase from Erik and Sky Guitars in two months. My first purchase was a Eastman E10D, that Erik set up and installed a pickup in himself. It was all done and handled so pro! Then, less than a week ago I was looking at their new inventory online and I saw they had the Eastman E10OOSS. I quickly reached out to Erik and asked him if it was still available and if so, if he could add an LR Baggs Anthem pickup to it.
He said sure, shot me a great price (He did not gouge me), and it was out that day! The guitar is exquisite and the fit and finish is primo! The Eastman E10OOSS is such a cherry and really sings! The set up was PRO (As usual), and the pickup was installed perfectly! Lastly, when I bought the E10D last month they were very particular with how the guitars in house were handled.
Some may not dig that, but that's what gave me the utmost confidence in buying from them online. OH.and I bought this guitar sight unseen. It came in even better condition than I thought. Do not hesitate to buy from Sky Guitars (In person or online), or getting work done by them. This shop is TOP NOTCH! I'm glad their not closer because I would live there and buy way too many guitars. Thank you Erik and Sky Guitars! Zach Scoggins

This store is rad. They have a lot of Eastman guitars as well as Fender-Squier. Really nice mandolin selection, a lot of mid range acoustics. They carry a plethora of pedals and their bass section is very nice for a fairly small store. They have their used stock kind of mixed in with their new stock, you might just find a hidden gem! I ended up picking up a used bass and they set it up and got me hooked up with a new bag. Great service and great store.

Just visited because I'm in town. One of the employees was welcoming and helpful, thank you. The other one spoke to me like a child he was worried might "touch" something. Not cool. A few nice guitars. Work on your customer service skills so a customer might actually return for a second visit. Or not be so put off as to walk out even if there was a guitar of interest on the first visit. This is why people prefer to order from the "internet" that you also complained about, or guitar center where they were kind and helpful today, instead of grouchy.

I LOVE SKY GUITARS! I've always been keen on Eastman acoustic guitars, but never really found any in the wild. Sky Guitars selection of Eastman guitars was AWESOME and mind blowing! I was like WHAAAA? Then, the nature in which the shop allowed people to handle the guitars is refreshing. Some would say strict/anal. I would say intelligent/wise. AND.that made me feel very secure in purchasing a guitar from them.
I knew it hadn't been carelessly handled by some rando. Brandon was my salesman, but he wasn't trying so sell me anything. He was just hanging out with me and my son as he helped me find the right guitar. What a super chill guy, and very understanding with my son who was a bit energetic the two times I came in. Most sales guys I've met while looking for guitars just seem like they don't care that I'm there, but Brandon was there to answer any and ALL questions he could and actually made a connection with me.
The owner, Erick was pretty rad too! He was hard at work the entire time. He wasn't just sitting around doing crossword puzzles. He installed a pickup and did a pro set up same day and did a fantastic job! The guitar is a dream in every way (Eastman E10D), and the experience I had at Sky Guitars made it a pleasant treat as well. If I ever feel the need to get another guitar. I know where I'm going! You can feel VERY secure about shopping or getting any work done at Sky! I know I do! Zach Scoggins

I have had an issue with an Eastman guitar purchase that has caused delivery to be delayed for some time. Erik at Sky Guitars has spoken directly to Eastman's top personnel in order to resolve the issue. While the guitar is still in transit, I must commend Erik and Eastman for both actively attempting to fix the problem. Both have called me and I sincerely appreciate their efforts. They are each trying their best to navigate the many challenges posed by COVID.

Often times, at a certain chain guitar shop, you realize quickly that you are more knowledgeable about the products they carry than the person who is suppose to be helping you. This is NOT the case at Sky guitars. Everybody I have dealt with has been well informed and helpful. Do yourself a favor and go see them. While you're there, play an Eastman. You won't be disappointed.

Aside from Erik being the best luthier/repairman around, their selection of performance-ready guitars in every price range is extensive. No guitar leaves that store if it's player-compromised in the least. Every one of the guitars that you see there has been repaired, set up, modified, and/or bought from his store.

If you're a guitar player, this is a fantastic place for you! Theres a large and interesting selection of both rare and entry level guitars. However as a bass player, the selection is severely lacking. They have low-end and extremely high-end basses with almost no in-between. In addition to that, they only have one or two brands to choose from. I'd love to support a small denton business, but there's just so little to pick from

I'm new to bass guitar and was looking for a particular model jazz bass, and Sky Guitars was the only shop in the area that carried it in the finish I wanted. Not only that, but shop owner Erik is a pro luthier who will set up your guitar for free if you buy it from him. This store has just about everything a guitarist needs, so I got my entire starter kit here in one go -- amp, cable, guitar stand and a strap.
Besides instruments, they've got a nice selection of cases and gig bags too and a wide variety of replacement strings. They sell some used instruments and equipment as well. In fact somebody had just traded in a vintage Fender Bassman amp that sounded better than the new Rumble series, so I picked it up! Everybody in the shop was knowledgeable, nice to deal with and I got a great price on the whole rig. Best of all I know where to take my bass if it ever needs repair or enhancement. This is a great place to live near if you're a musician!

Sent in my all solid wood dreadnaught from Santa Clara California as their website said they can fix a warped neck with heat and steam. I could not find anyone local who confidently would tell me they could fix my guitars neck in such a simple and inexpensive maner. It turned out my neck was warped and twisted and The playability was harsh. These guys fixed my neck and gave me an awesome set up.
My guitar sounds and plays better than ever. It cost as much to ship as to repair and it was worth every penny. I would recommend them to all. Thank you for making my guitar great again. Oh, I almost forgot. I waited almost a year to write this review because folks were telling me heat treating would not last and the wood would go back to the warped shape. Well the guitar is perfect and I have no regrets.

Erik at Sky Guitars was very accommodating with my purchase of my new American Standard Stratocaster. His setup was perfect and he was not only very responsive with pre-purchase questions, but post-sale as well (even dumb questions). First-rate service and received my new guitar next-day (from Denton to Austin). Cannot recommend this store highly enough!

Sky Guitars did a great job fixing up my late father's 1960s Gretsch for me! The rear pickup had never worked since I've used it. I took it in on Christmas Eve (Thursday), and they were able to have it ready to go on Monday so I could fly back to New York with it. Erik was extremely helpful and made me feel very comfortable trusting him with an instrument that has incredible sentimental value.
He was very clear about the possibilities of being able to meet my tight timeline along with the challenges of having to do all the work through the pickup mounts because it has no rear-access panel. This did make the work more expensive, but the cost was reasonable. He tested the pickup right away after I dropped it off and called to let me know the pickup itself worked and that he'd be able to complete the work over the weekend.
He provided an updated estimate for cleaning all the electronics, repairing the binding, and doing a setup/adjustment with new strings. When I picked it up, the other store employees were also friendly and helpful. They gave good recommendations on strings for a relative's acoustic guitar, and Erik demonstrated how all the switches on my guitar work.
As someone who is obviously a beginning guitar player, I was very appreciative that they were so welcoming and encouraging. I'm so glad I was able to get this work done in Denton! Thanks so much, Sky Guitars!

Since I started playing guitar in the mid 90's there's only one place I take my guitar, Sky Guitars. The one time I took it somewhere else was a nightmare, and I ended up having to take it to Sky Guitars to have the other shop's work repaired. When I first started going here as a teenager it was just some little hole in the wall repair shop, where the luthier Erik looked like he was going to be buried by all the guitars crammed into the little room. They've expanded though, gotten bigger, however the service has always stayed fantastic.
Only once have I ever had an issue with the work done, but I took it back and they fixed it for free. I don't know how good their prices are as a music store (though they always have good specials on strings when I get a set-up), but when it comes to getting work done on your guitar or getting a set-up, this is the place to go.

Made some changes of late. For the worse, I think. You'll hear every customer informed of what you were informed of when you came in."please don't touch the guitars." Especially the ridiculously expensive martins. Not dissing martin guitars, but I'm not too sure who will throw down money for one in this college town. Good luck with that. Had a guy tell me straight up what length bass strings I needed after he looked up my bass online.
They were the wrong size. Upon return, a different guy looked up the instrument and proclaimed I needed exactly the opposite strings while the previous salesman was right there. No apology and no refund. Just a little 10 percent reach around on the correct strings. Said they couldn't sell them after opened. These guys are like the convenience store of music, in my view. While I'm sure they are excellent at setups and repairs, I would stay online for retail and wait for shipping.

Brought my guitar in because the electronics were messy, yet functioning. I wanted to see how much it would cost to have everything straightened out and left it at the store to have the repair man check it out and give me an estimate on the repair. Was told he would definitely call me before doing any work. I get a call a week later telling me it's done and costs about 40 dollars more than I was looking to spend.
I end up calling Erik, the owner and guy who actually repaired the guitar, and he could care less about my situation. Here's a quote from their website: "Erik will sit down and explain what work is required to get your instrument in top playing condition. No work is done until you have agreed on the work you want done." Never happened for me. I'm upset because if he had called and told me how much it would've been I could have just told him not to worry about it and saved myself $100.
This guy seriously did not care about costumer service. He talked to me as if he had done me some huge favor by taking so much time out of his busy schedule to fix the guitar I had never even agreed to have repaired. I'll never go back again.

HORRIBLE! GO TO A PAWN SHOP! you will get treated with more respect. Bought a drum set mute kit from these hacks. Got home, which is 2 blocks from this place and it did not fit my drum set. Naturally I went back to return or exchange it for the one that fit (this was maybe 20 minutes total). The fat hipster kid behind the counter looked over the box and ran his hands all over it like he was on a date and found a nick on the box that was smaller than a dime and said, "sorry bra, can't return it".
They lost my business forever. If you are a real musician from denton then you know the reputation of this place. Go to Glenn's on university or McBride's on the square, let this place earn a name for themselves.

I like this place. A great selection of accessories tops the list. Strings, pickups, etc. are plenty. I also noticed a variety of decent line amplifiers and p.a. equipment. Plus a helpful staff with a good attitude gives it my 3 stars. They seem to fall short on the high end acoustic guitar lines but well worth a visit. Do it man.
