Be careful about consigning your instrument at this store. I had options to take it to other shops but chose them as they were closer than the LA store that was recommended. I called them and they were very interested in consigning the piece. I brought it in and they happily took the instrument but after 3 months they have not bothered to put if up for sale.
Very disappointed that they have yet to list the instrument. I would never have taken it to them if they had been honest about the process of holding on to the instrument for so long.

The quality of the products and of the clerks is very high but my receipt was not matching their listed price. This discrepancy varied; for instance i was over charged $2 for the Suzuki viola book and over charged for the C string by $0.68. Yet the g string was under charged by 10 cents. The strings i assumed were a set but the material ranged from unknown, nickel and steel.

Aaron has been absolutely wonderful to work with. Over the last 10 years, this company has been consistently reliable and honest with their sales - I couldn't ask anything more from the high end instrument and bow sales here. As a professional violist (of the Thalea String Quartet) I have had mixed experiences at different violin shops around the country, but Robertson & Sons has ALWAYS proved to be a reliable place to shop.

Horrible experience. Employees weren't very friendly and they basically want you to have perfect credit to rent an instrument. I am glad I took my business elsewhere. Went to Musicality. The employee was way more friendly and helpful. They hsd far more reasonable expectations for parents renting an instrument for their elementary school children.

Great place. Very helpful staff. Aaron Robertson knows a lot and helped us personally. Great selection of instruments and they treat you very well even if you tell them you are just beginning the journey to a new instrument. We played over a dozen instruments from all price ranges including a couple that were stratospheric. Just to see the differences and similarities.

Visiting Robertson's Violins was just about heaven on Earth. I visited in search of a better cello, and have my current cello worked on so that I can put it up for sale. Both processes were extremely accommodating and very specifically catered to my needs. The luthier spent about 30-40 minutes working on my instrument. During this time, every change he made, had me try the cello and provide him with feedback to get the adjustments just right.
He also played the cello for me, which was very helpful as well. Next, I spent over 5 hours in their auditorium, "auditioning" cellos. The specialist who helped me really took the time to listen to my thoughts, and also gave me the space to play around with the instruments on my own. He brought to me different cellos, I spent some time with each, and then gave him my thoughts.
He then performed the cellos for me so that I could hear the sounds at a distance, which was incredibly helpful. One particular cello that I was was drawn to, was very nicely balanced, but there was something I disliked about the A string. After listening, the specialist exchanged the A string for a different brand, which then provided the cello with exactly what I was looking for. However, then the D string didn't seem to work well with the new A, and so once again, the specialist changed out a string and voila, perfection. Needless to say, I purchased that cello.
I was over the moon with their customer service and really attracted to their trade-in policy. My purchase was definitely an investment for my future, and one day, I will trade in my cello for a new cello that suits my needs as a growing cellist. As I left, he had my new cello cleaned up and serviced by their luthiers, and even managed to find an old hard case to transport the instrument home. I am so happy to now be apart of the Robertson's family. Thank you so much.
