For anyone who is new to buying any type of string instrument, especially a violin, I highly recommend Atlantic Strings. They are so friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They guided me from start to finish on making sure that I got the best fit and best price point for my daughter who is starting to play the violin. Best of all, they deliver to the area that I live in for convenience and overall amazing customer service.

I contacted Atlantic Strings after inheriting a viola & knowing nothing about the instrument. Allen, the owner, was gracious with his time & knowledge. Allen walked me through what needed to be done to refurbish the instrument, costs, and potential value after it was done.

This is to recognize the excellent work of Allen Gatchell, from Atlantic Strings in Melbourne Fl, on the restoration of my italian violin from 1824. The repair involved many cleats installations in the soundboard over cracks developped from thermal cycles and vibrations. The finger board distortion, introduced by excessive sun exposure, required a very precise planar wood work.

The re-alignment of the endpin bore was completed successfully. The sound of the violin recovered from being muted in high frequencies to balanced over the whole sound spectrum. An amazing job, an outstanding talent. Thank you Allen, Jean-Francois Richard Melbourne, Fl

Our daughter has been playing violin for about 10 years and has made her way through many violins. Recently she had hit a plateau with her excitement and progression. We decided it was time to step up to a higher level of violin to help get her over the hump. At first we were at a loss as to where to even go to have her look for a new violin. After finding Atlantic Strings we realized all hope was not lost.

After our one on one appointment with Kim and some great input from Alan Chloe found an instrument the really excited her. Since upgrading she has received several compliments and encouraging comments mentioning her increased confidence and how her playing has improved. In this case I really believe her previous violin was holding her back and without the upgrade she would have missed out on many positive experiences. Very patient, helpful staff. Michael worked hard to fit my son with a violin chin rest and I felt like we took so much of his time! But he assured us we were fine. It's an excellent store with great staff.

I am so impressed with the service of this shop. Ricky and Hannah assisted me in understanding how to get the most out of my instrument. I am presently just a student looking to go further into this hobby, and they made thoughtful recommendations on what I could do to achieve the tone I want. A tidy and cozy string shop with the instruments, books and accessories. I wanted to put three stars, but I believe I was dealing with a trainee so that would not have been fair. The process took one hour and thirty minutes to rent a single 16.5 viola and case. Additionally, they had to "find" the case in a shed outback - uhhh! What made this experience frustrating is that there was only one customer ahead of us and he was checking out.

Full disclosure - my son and I came in and he was immediately fitted to a viola, and rest. Then time just stopped! We exercised patience until time creeped into another event that we needed to be. We allotted 45 minutes in and out of the shop. However, with a single customer ahead of us going on 1.5 hours with very little movement, that was unacceptable.

In other words, a full shop would have warranted more time. How this shop salvaged their rating. They simply acknowledged my frustration, and took my pointed, but respectful disdain to heart to speed the process up and get us out the door. Plus, they threw in some string oil to boot. Clean and crisp customer service saved the rating, but no reason to have a customer stand around as long as we did for a single rental.

Do not get my rating wrong, we were treated fair, and with respect. The representative and trainee were knowledgeable, cheery and engaging. We will be returning in the very near future and hope that we have a better experience to upgrade to 5 stars.

We had an awesome experience purchasing a cello for our son. We felt completely supported during our whole decision making and purchasing process. We had tons of questions that were addressed without making us feel feel silly for asking. We truly appreciate how dynamic the team is as well! Lindy was such a source of support and was able to ease our concerns empathetically. Alfred has amazing knowledge about stringed instruments and was very helpful assisting our son in choosing the right instrument for him.

And the manager Michael helped us understand our different options for purchasing very efficiently so we could make the right decision for our family. All in all, what we thought would be a complicated and stressful experience was completely opposite! It is no wonder that professional string players and educators from all around the East coast recommended we come here! So grateful we did!

Stepping into this store is magical. I could of spent hours in there looking at the unique instruments My daughter plays the violin and after struggling to finish her final on her rental, we decided to purchase one. The quality and sound is 110% better, beautiful, and very affordable purchase options! She replayed all of her songs and hit all the notes. We were in and out due to the coronavirus with a new quality violin and case with fabulous service.

My son had his cello tailpiece replaced and bridge adjusted as a recommendation to help with the sound before his recital. The onsite luthier was very knowledgeable and thorough in his workmanship. We have been using Atlantic Strings for over 5 years and have always been very pleased with them.

What a wonderful store. They worked very hard to find me the right violin pegs. As the child (although no longer a child LOL) of professional violinists we had always found it difficult to locate a professional string store that was not with 10 miles of a large city (e.g. Philadelphia). As a recent retiree I look forward to visiting this store frequently.

Atlantic Strings is where I go for anything related to my string instrument. Allen is amazing and went above and beyond with his customer service! Not only did he oil up my bow, but he also adjusted some loose pegs on another visit. He even offered to adjust my bridge so that it would be easier for me to play. I won't go anywhere else with my cello!

My child has been playing the violin for almost 5 years now, and has progressed from a 1/2 size to a 3/4 size and finally to a full size. Her first 2 violins were inexpensive "learning" violins that, bless their hearts, Atlantic Strings fixed bridges on and restrung so that they sounded decent. When I purchased her full size online, it was. disappointing.

I took it to Atlantic Strings hoping they could work their magic, but this particular violin was just beyond hope. I had always hesitated to purchase an expensive violin, because my child is just a student, but on a whim, I asked if they had any violins around the $300 price point. One gentleman and a young man named Michael were super helpful! Michael found us a violin and was able to discount some things and get us close to our price point. And, what a difference in the sound!

It is so remarkable. It has actually inspired my child to practice more because it sounds so. Much. Better. Thanks again to Michael and the Atlantic Strings team - for fixing "less-than-awesome" violins to helping us get a great violin at a price we could afford.

I came in with a very old, very beautiful violin that needed a lot of TLC. Atlantic strings has restored my violin and did so masterfully. The staff was so kind and helpful and I will absolutely be coming back here for anything music-related that I need.

I got between jobs, and couldn't make a payment. Allen and his crew helped me figure out a payment option so I could continue to play my cello.
