I had a 5 star experience with Dillon. He was nice enough to show me how to re stri g and tune my inexpensive ukulele. I called other music stores and I felt like it they didn't want to help because it was a cheat ukulele I brought from ABC store after a few tropical drinks at this store. He reassured me he would help me with no judgment. The Google map gives you a run around, but its worth the quality and knowledgeable staff to purchase and /or repair your instrument. They have fun plastic beach ukuleles.

Good shop with a lot of ukulele options of all flavors and sizes as well as a solid collection of guitars. The location is a little rough outside, but don't be fooled. Head in and enjoy the experience.

We were on vacation when my son's ukulele broke! It was a simple fix, but way above my pay grade. I called Sound Wave and even though it was their busiest time of year, they were kind enough to fit him in, get his uke fixed up for a fair price, and made it even better than before. Super grateful for their big hearts and quick work! AND OMG their inventory is awesome! I was drooling over their ukuleles. Just gorgeous works of art that they have there. 10/10 recommend to anyone needing an instrument or instrument repair! Mahalo, y'all!

Had my ukulele saddle/action lowered and they changed it to low G for me. Thank you for being so quick with your service and also very kind to demo your other instruments. It plays so well now and I've been having a blast with it.

Visited the store yesterday to buy 2 ukuleles. There were 2 customers ahead of me. Staff spent ample time with those customers and I waited patiently. I appreciated the attention that was given to them and I was looking forward to the same treatment. After 50 minutes (yes, 50 minutes), it was finally my turn. After speaking to me for 5 minutes, he excused himself to talk to the customer who just entered the store.

I was dumbfounded. After a couple of minutes, when it was apparent that he did not want to help me, I left. I don't know what I said or did, but it was clear that he didn't value my time or wallet. I wasted a lot of time and he lost a sale.

This is the best music store on the big island. Staff is incredibly nice, talented, and good hearted. They have everything you need. Would love it if this music store was in my neighborhood in SF bay area. I rented a guitar to play during a three week stay. BEST decision I have ever made. Every time we come to the big island, I will be back at Soundwave.

Very nice music store with large selection of pretty much anything you need. Been here a couple of times and the older gentleman that works there is super nice and helpful! He's really honest and helped me find items in my budget. I really appreciated that he didn't ever try to up sell anything, he actually showed me less expensive items than what I was looking at.

He just shows you what you really need, so I feel like I can completely trust his recommendations. Their prices are also very honest--when comparing with Amazon or online prices there's not that much difference so I prefer to shop here and see what I'm buying in person. Plus they're really nice if you need to return anything you don't like. 100% recommend. LOVE this place!

This is a great musical instrument shop. The staff is awesome, friendly and knowledgeable. They really know their stuff. They have a great guitar pedal collection and stock great strings, cables, amps, speakers, etc. Their prices are great too. This is the best guitar store on this side of the island. Maybe on the island. I havent been to the stores on the Hilo side so i cant say.

Fantastic experience today at Soundwave. My daughter is starting guitar lessons and she and I brought her guitar in for strings and a tune. Matt was the music technician who helped us. He was very kind to my 9 year old and explained how to string the guitar for her. Great experience. Highly recommend the personal touch a hometown music store provides. You can't get that over the internet. A+
