Music & Arts is a scam. I have already paid more than the purchase price for my kid's instrument but because my contract was (apparently) and rental only & not a rent to own, I still do not own the instrument AND if I wanted to buy it, it would cost the full purchase price ($1340). The agent who helped me was perfectly nice but couldn't answer the question and teh manager was no better. Sadly, the contract was provided by my son's 5th grade teacher and we've been locked in for 3 years now. STAY AWAY FROM MUSIC & ARTS RENTALS, ITS A SCAM.

Ordered a gift card online for a relative for Christmas. Gift card was never received. I used contact us form thru website which was never answered, called customer service they said they would follow up within 48 hours which never happened. Don't bother with this company, very poor experience and waste of $100 and time.

I have been waiting on an order since Sept. 15, 2021. It is now Nov. 19, 2021. I have received a portion of my $800+ order and have called several times to find out an update on the items I have not received. Every time I call, the wait time has been at least 10 minutes up to 1/2 hour. They cannot find my order! I have had to jump through hoops to find out where the order is and where my items are.
One customer service assistant was able to find the order and tell me that the items were 'open order'. I called today, a month later and the SAME assistant could not find my order! It is very frustrating that a company of this size cannot find an order. I never write reviews but I felt I needed to let others know to not use this company.

Just now Critical: Communication, Professionalism My daughters school was out of available trumpet rentals. So this place looked so Convenient, however, it is not. I have been trying to return the trumpet for 8 months. The UPS label they sent me would not work when I went to UPS. Then they said I have to take it into a music store to return it. Due to covid the place has been closed and I've been stuck paying 32 dollars a month for an instrument I no longer need.

I just had my first violin lesson with Anna and am blown away by how much I learned in just one lesson! Anna is knowledgeable, friendly, and so encouraging! The customer service was also fantastic. Jess and Katie were super friendly from the moment I walked in. It was a great experience and I can't wait for my next lesson.

I feel bad that there is no zero star option to choose from here. I have been a very patient customer this year. Have had to go back and forth with cellos that are poor quality and break. When I went back to the store to replace it, they had to pull out 4 different cellos to find one that was in usable condition. Today I called because I got a bill during this COVID pandemic because I didn't return the instrument on time (even though I was in quarantine protecting a 107 yo man and not even going grocery shopping).
They refused. Such bad customer service, particularly during a time when we should all be helping each other out. Not to mention I couldn't even understand the person talking to me on the phone. I will be taking my business elsewhere. There are plenty of music stores looking to support those who support the arts with much better quality and caring. So much for being nice when they were at fault for having unusable instruments.now they have one less customer to worry about.

I ordered an acoustic guitar from this company for a birthday present for someone else and a week later I got an email asking me to call their customer service to validate my order. Called and verified my order and the gentleman I spoke with said my order has been confirmed and it has been released to ship. THE VERY NEXT DAY I got another email from the verification department asking me to call and verify my order. AGAIN.
So I called and verified my order with a different person and was told it was AGAIN verified and would be sent to me. The next day my bank account showed a reverse charge for the payment on the purchase. Very frustrated I called and was given voice mail, so I asked someone to call me back to see what was going on with my order. No one ever called me back. BUT, they DID charge my account TWICE for the guitar later that day, resulting in an overdraft on my account.
I called and spoke with a woman to just cancel my order because by then I was fed up with the company. I was told the order had shipped out already and could not be cancelled, and it would take 7-10 business days to get them to refund the erroneous duplicate charge. No refund of the bank over-draft fees, just an "I'm sorry, is there anything else I can help you with?". WORST buying experience. Would never recommend this company to anyone.

Some of the staff are very knowledgeable and most are very friendly and do their best to be helpful. My issue is the disorganization! Taking lessons, I got charged for 2 lessons when there was only one week left in the month. Someone must have noticed when going back into my account and fixed it. but then I had lessons scheduled with a teacher, showed up and was informed "he isn't here today".
He had apparently informed them he was going out of town, and my lessons were refunded in the system but NO ONE CALLED ME. Wasted trip! Severe disappointment! Dismay at the way the lesson charges and scheduling have been handled thus far. ------renting an instrument so far seems ok, and is part of why I gave them more stars. That and people being friendly and generally helpful.

UPDATE: The instrument has been returned and I received a phone call today that the balance of the account will not be forgiven, however it will be adjusted for the last few months. The reason given was that they marked the account pending return when my husband first attempted to have a label sent and did not follow-up on the account after that (for over a year!).
They claim that my husband didnt follow-up either so we are "equally" to blame, and, therefore, we have to pay- note that when they say we are equally at fault, we are still having to pay more than half the balance. It seems to reason that if the blame is shared equally, we should only have to pay half the balance, but I digress. My husband DID attempt to have someone contact him using their online form, but apparently that was never reflected on his account.
My husband rented my step-daughters clarinet back in the fall of 2016, by the end of the school year (May or June 2017) the local store had closed and he was told a box and label would be sent to us to return the clarinet. We never received the box or label. He called several more times and nothing. We didnt get any further bills until just a few months ago stating that we owe $400+ and that it would be sent to collections.
He has tried calling customer service and has tried to send emails to get this problem solved. This is very poor business practice and terrible customer service! NEVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!

I was looking for a specific piece of equipment when I saw this place on Dallas hwy. I decided to stop and was greeted by Doug. Told him what I was looking for and he went on the rabbit hunt. The lessons given may be okay, but the staff for getting anything arranged is horrible. My daughter, a high school Baritone player, put in a request for private lessons with a particular instructor. The form said she would hear back within 48 hours. A week passed by and we heard nothing. I just got off the phone with the store.they informed me the instructor had some students drop off for the summer but he just filled back up again.
Probably during the time we were waiting to hear from them. I will not use this store ever again. I used to but all of my sons and my reeds and other accessories there (we both play saxophone and clarinet), but those days are gone! I would not waste your time with this place. My past experiences with Ken Stanton Music were so much better!

Today is 12/16/17. I returned my instrument back in the summer time 2017. I threw away my folder and receipt from music & arts thinking I did not need it no longer because I returned my instrument. I started receiving bills that I owed money for the instrument. I called 1-888-731-5396 and spoke with a Terry letting her know that I did return my instrument and it was all paid up to date but I threw away my receipt.
She was looking into finding my receipt as she said it was at the main music & arts head quarters. She is not answering my calls after many attempts too phone her nor is anyone at the 1-888-731-5396 helping me. I have to continue to pay for an instrument that I no longer have to avoid my credit getting ruined. Music & arts customer services are horrible! Stay away from music & arts to avoid getting your money taken from you!

Rental arrangement for a sax was a sham. The pitch I remember them giving me when I entered a rental contract was that the rental fees will reduce the price of the sax if I purchased it later. Not true. Day one I could have purchased the sax for $882. Nine months later I purchased the sax for $600. The only reduction is depreciation. None of the $500 I paid in 9-mons of rental fees did anything to reduce the price. So, if you rent.know that all of your rental fees go towards rental and none of it will go toward actually paying for the cost of the instrument. The instrument quality is fine. Store was clean and helpful. Their business model may leave you feeling ripped off.

Stay away! Customer service is poor-the payoff discount constantly changes. They work off your feelings that you want to help your kids, get you locked in to the contract then squeeze money out of you. I called to try to bring down the payoff quote that I got and it went UP by $28! Do not do business with this company, pure and simple. Work with a local business who will give you great service.

Pretty good for what they do, especially the quality of the instructors which is really high. I've yet to go in there looking for something school-band related and not find it, which is pretty important. But contra a previous review, it is a chain:.Music & Arts was acquired by Guitar Center, Inc. in April 2005 to expand its offerings to the beginning and student musician. Music & Arts now has over 100 retail locations in 19 states.
