Carmel Music

I enjoyed my time working with the students and watching them succeed in their own growth and competitions. I also enjoyed using my skills to make the store a website and bring it from the 80's into the modern day. Things unfortunately soured towards the end with management and the Covid pandemic, but I still enjoyed my time teaching. Even if the store didn't hold up its end of the contract.

I just had the most pleasant experience with Jim, the guitar guy. If you need any sort of musical instrument repair they are second to none. And I have a degree in music, so I've been to my fair share of music stores in my lifetime. I plan on taking my clarinet and flute in as well. Their customer service was top notch. What a gem in the heart of downtown Carmel.

One of the best music stores I've ever been to. Clean, and absolutely more-than-friendly service. The kind of service that is more of a conversation than someone talking down to you. You'll absolutely love them.

I called about a left handed guitar and they were beyond friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend them to anyone.

In a world full of Guitar Centers and Sam Ash's, we must treasure places like Carmel Music Center. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about music. Brought my guitar in to install new pickups and get it set up, they did an amazing job at a very reasonable price.

Edited to reflect that I intended to post a review of Carmel Music Company in Carmel-By-The-Sea, California, which is owned and operated by Dexter Johnson: Dexter sells out of his home now. He really knows his musical instruments and sells some of the finest acoustic guitars ever made. As a guitar maker and wood supplier himself, Dexter is a guitar expert, inside and out -- and a great guy to deal with.

I bought my most expensive guitar from him, and it is one of my favorites (the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen with amazing, complex sonority), although I baby it and don't play it as often as some of my much less expensive guitars.

A staple of downtown Carmel for many, many years. Dave Renner and his staff are some of the nicest, kindest people you will ever meet. I love this place and always will.

The owner is always helpful and a good guy. Their prices used to be quite high but have since returned to normal prices. I like this store alot and the owner is very knowledgeable and able to help with almost any guitar related question.

We've purchased two refurbished clarinets from the CMC, and both experiences have been excellent. The instruments have been perfect for my kids as beginner and intermediate band students. I highly recommend purchasing from them instead of paying very high rental or purchase fees from other instrument sources.

Not what I remembered as a child. Now I have a child and am in the market for music equipment. I got a hello and that was it. not what are you looking for today, what's your interest, do you have or are you a musician. plus their stock is weak. Been involved and playing music for years. Sorry you are a shell of what you used to be. I know lessons are the business but nostalgia holds a candle.

You have been in business for a long time. I'm 35 and remember what CMC used to be. I took lessons there. I'm just very disappointed of how there was no interest in me. the consumer. I'm purchasing an electronic drum set for my child. They have a model I was interested in. I went there first. And did not have the help I expected. Had to drive to Castleton but found what I wanted and was greeted asked what I was in the market for they found it and gave me a great deal. I wish we could of done business because my mom bought my first bass from you guys. Would of been cool for me to say my son got his first kit from you too.

I mainly dealt with David while I was there. Even though they did not stock the specific item I was looking for, they went above and beyond to get me any information they could. They were knowledgeable about guitar amplifiers and very friendly. This was an awesome experience despite not being able to find my specific item.
