Let my story lead you to your next great purchase with premier customer service. I have been playing guitar for a few years but never took the plunge into a nice instrument. Never thought I deserved better than my entry level plywood guitar Stimulus check came in and I re-thought this. I visited a few different shops, Sylvan, Guitar Showcase, and Guitar Center (yikes).

None of these stores consulted me about what guitar would fit me best, I was left to my own devices. Since I don't know a whole lot I really wanted the help of an expert. Long story shortened I called Rich at Union Grove and we decided on a few different guitars I could try. He answered any questions I had and additionally asked about what I like to play.

I was in a rush to find something before Thanksgiving. Despite saying it would be a few days, Rich re-strung a few guitars for me to come in and try after telling him I couldn't wait. Following our appointment I left with a Martin CS-OM-13 that I have not been able to put down. Don't waste time elsewhere and get in with a shop that cares.

Incredibly easy to work with. Vast array of quality merchandise. Fair, honest, responsive. Richard is a true professional and knows his stuff. Handled a significant transaction flawlessly and got the guitar in my hands cross country expeditiously and at a reasonable cost. Highly recommended!

Lovely folks there at UGM, now an online store only, who are ready to answer all your questions and help you with anything you may want to purchase from their web store. You can even set up an appointment to test out any of the many high end guitars they have for sale. Best place in town (and out) to get a Martin!

Hard to find a cozy shop like this in other cities. The staff were really cool, and my friend got to test out one of his dream guitars. Have some strange string instruments and a good selection of pedals.

Very knowledgeable staff. The prices are a little higher than other stores around for the same item, but they also have more higher end items. Almost exclusively guitars, very little of any other instrument.

They're really nice and knowledgeable. Got a mic stand for my Theremini and they throw in an adapter for nothing! Definitely will do my future purchases here, it's local and it's better than online shopping in every sense.

I'm an older woman who plays electric guitar. Have purchased top-line new guitars there and sold some equipment there, and they did the job. But I have never been comfortable there. The boss is angry, curt and dismissive and the staff doesn't seem relaxed or happy. There are unwritten rules about how long you can stay, what you can touch etc. Not for me any more.

All the guys and gal is always friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Every time I go here they have been very helpful, resourceful, and honest. I've gone in a couple of times wanting one thing and asked them about it, but they recommend something that will work better for what I'm looking for and they've always be right about why the other item is better than the one I wanted.

Came in with a fat wad of cash to by a new guitar and the older woman that is always there walked up to me and said, "If you aren't going to buy anything you shouldn't be in here." My guess is she assumed that, based on my appearance, I was just another 20 something about to play all the guitars and leave. This is was not the first, but it was the last time I received bad service there as I have never returned.

When you are ready for a Martin acoustic, this is the place to go. The staff knows their product, and they won't be happy, until you are happy. My guitar of a lifetime was the Martin HD-28. If you are looking for a fine instrument, Richard, Tom, and the rest of the Union Grove staff, will be there to help you. I've bought a Martin vintage 12 string, and my new HD-28 in the last two years. Great instruments, and a great store. Thanks for being in Santa Cruz!
