When I went to purchase an electric guitar, I started off by saying, "I have two acoustic guitars brand X, that I bought online for my kids. I didn't spend much on them, and they are trash. I would like to get an inexpensive quality instrument, nothing consumer/student grade." They gave me three different options. In the end, I selected an ESP LTD, H-101FM.
The price was the same from the big name internet stores. For about a year now it has been a great investment in myself. I continue to purchase strings, straps, cases, picks, etc. from them. If local is fair, I go with local

TL/DR: Everything is too expensive. Everything in this store is way more expensive as it would cost you for the same instrument online. Its nice to be able to play with it first, and I want to support local business, but twice as much is way too much. An example: I wanted to buy a set of bongos for my friend for his birthday. At lipham, the cheapest set was a non adjustable, ugly set of bongos for 60$, and an adjustable reasonable looking set for 120$. Checking prices at amazon revealed that for 60$ I could get something that was on par with the 120$ lipham set and get a book with it. So half price for more kit.
