We have been married for 40 years and have 3 grown children and 8 grand children. 6 boys and 2 girl. We have been performing together and teaching Old Time, Blues, Folk and Swing music since soon after we married. In 2000, Trisha's mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. By 2001 at the age of 80 she was no longer able to care for herself. We really didn't want to put her in a nursing home so we made some life changes so that we could have her with us and be home most of the time. One of those changes was to start our online business Strumhollow.com.

I insisted she skin the possum (Hee, hee, hee). Actually it was a very interesting process which we both participated in and would not like to repeat too often. My next task was to scrape the skin and stretch it onto the banjo. At last it was finished and what a beautiful sound! Now the spirit of the possum lives on singing mountain tunes.
This was our first attempt at building a resophonic guitar. We thought you might enjoy the pictures and maybe learn from our experience. This guitar had an incredible sound but we felt it could have used more bracing as it was made of thin solid woods. You will see, in the last two pictures, that extra bracing was added after the guitar suffered an accident which resulted in a cracked top.
This is a 2 octave C Major scale based on the barred C chord at the fifth fret. The Major scale is the familiar do re mi scale. This scale can be moved up or down the fretboard and named by whatever chord is formed at the fret where 1 is on the sixth string or by the note under your bar at that location.
Our musical spoons are not difficult to play. Grip them by the handle with your index finger through the hole. In a sitting position, strike the spoons down on the opposite leg from the hand with the spoons. Now hold your other hand palm down above the spoons. After striking down on your leg with the spoons, you can tap down with the hand or bring the spoons up to strike the hand.

I ordered my first violin here, and it was packaged wonderfully and carefully! To make everything better, it came pre-rosined with a handwritten note from Ken and Trisha themselves! I'm reccomending all my friends to order here for their instruments. They truly put love into every shipment they make.

Great place to buy your first guitar! They helped me get exactly what my daughter needed to start her school's M/J Guitar 1 course. They did not try to over sell us on guitar that we did not need. The quality and price of the acoustic guitar we bought could not be beat got everything including tuner, gig bag, and stand for under $250. Great starter guitar. Highly recommend this place!
