I began my career in the early 1970's working for the largest Baldwin Piano dealership on the East coast. There I studied the craft of piano rebuilding and refinishing with a number of experienced and gifted piano technicians. Success and a growing reputation among local piano tuners and private customers led to a full-time need for piano restoration services.
At David G. Tennett Piano Rebuilding and Refinishing we perform complete piano restorations using the finest material and parts available today. There are many terms that are used to describe the work needed on your instrument. Piano restoration, piano rebuilding, piano reconditioning and piano refurbishing are just a few of the terms that are used to describe what your instrument might need. We will restore your Steinway, Mason & Hamlin, Chickering, Knabe, Baldwin and many other fine pianos back to their original condition.
The refinishing process begins with hand striping using a cold chemical striper to remove the existing finish. After the finish is removed the piano is then sanded with 120 grit sand paper to remove small scratches and dents and to restore the wood to its unfinished look. After this sanding is complete the piano rim and case parts are repaired.
We provide complete in home piano repair and piano tuning. We repair sticking keys, notes not playing, broken strings, action adjustments and minor action regulation in your home. Broken and worn parts can be replaced to make your piano playing experience enjoyable. We also repair broken or damaged piano case parts, such as legs, music desks and the many other case parts on your piano. Old keytops that effect the appearance of your piano that are cracked, missing or yellowed can be replaced with new plastic or ivory keytops.
