Have purchased multiple instruments from Midlothian Music over the years. In stock, special orders or just doing research about what gear you're in the market for. The staff never pressures but will cycle through as few or as many products as you ask to see, while trying to dial in the right instrument for you. Keyboards, guitars, Amps, violins, setups and new strings.
We've bought a good deal and have never had a bad experience. Also coming at you is decades of experience and industry knowledge on what brands they carry and why. If you're in the area and in the market for an instrument, this place is the best choice.

Came in here after randomly finding it after being in the area. The guys were unreal nice and we talked shop forever. Being a Lakland guy I was in heaven with how many they had, it's unreal. From the sales guy to the owner they couldn't have been nicer to me. I definitely will be coming back to get some strings or a Lakland! GO HERE!

Music store with strict rules, can't play anything without 10 min max rule, and I couldn't even play through an amp they had on the floor. The associate plug me into some floor monitor to hear what the guitar sounded like. Felt uncomfortable in the store the entire time. Not sure who this store is designed for but surely not me.

In defense of my friend Aidan, most things you are accusing of us aren't true. Yes we took a bass and a guitar off without asking. We were not aware of that rule because this was our first time trying out guitars at this store. Your associates did everything with the amps. They are the ones who had the volume up high. Only 3 of the 4 of us played guitars, and only two amps were available.
I was cut off in the middle of a solo by your employee so that someone else could use it. Every few minutes we were asked if we would buy the guitar. I'm aware as a small business you need people to buy but di you expect a few 17 year olds to drop $500-1000 within 30 min of finding a guitar? We need things like strings and picks and wanted to buy local. After the pressure we recieved, we left without buying anything. So yes, maybe guitar center is better fit for us.

No business integrity! They advertised a Taylor Guitar as brand new and the price was reasonable for a new 312 CE V-Brace. However, even though the guitar was indeed "brand new" it was a 2014 model. This was discovered after receiving the guitar via internet sell by researching the serial number. It should have been advertised as a "brand new 2014".
If you buy a car that is advertised as brand new, it would be a 2020 model, not a 2014. Asked for a return or exchange, no luck. I own 9 guitars valued in the $35,000 range and have purchased some on-line with no problem.

My daughter plays the trombone, guitar, ukulele and piano, they have it all and more at the best price including lessons. Midlothian Music has been around for years and have an outstanding knowledge of the industry. Their service is always courteous and friendly. Clean and organized shop with great hours as well. Highly recommend them!

I bought three guitars for My daughter 12, son, 5 and myself to learn how to play during this shut down. John was outstanding matching us with quality acoustic guitars for beginners that are made of great quality and great price for all three starting out. John took his time showing different options and giving his opinion what may be best. Ultimately he let us decide.
I just brought in another Acoustic guitar that I have had for a while for new strings. John was very friendly and helpful again. Highly recommend Midlothian Music in Orlando Park. See John. You will feel like family.

John Lekavich advised me to do business over the phone and outside of Reverb.com so that he could avoid their fees and I would not be charged taxes. The T5 he assured me was brand new has a broken saddle and is not brand new as advertised. I have called all week and sent him several emails with pics of the broken saddle; he has not replied. John has not conducted himself as an adult nor a professional, and I do not recommend doing business with him nor Midlothian Music.

Yes rude as hell. I've spent enough to buy a car here. Last night after buying a high end Taylor last week I called and asked for help on a different Taylor I purchased there several years ago and got into an argument with the guy about the fact that I was asking a question. seriously. Every time I've gone in it's the same terrible service except for Dan and Keith this last time. I own a business as well no way do we treat customers that way no matter how wrong they are! It's a shame cause it's close by.

Came in here with my boyfriend wanting to check out some guitars. Guy behind the counter was rude and unwelcoming. I will never make one of my customers feel the way he made us feel. It's a shame that a local music store owner would act like that and I will never be returning. I will continue to spread the word to go anywhere but here.

False/Misleading Product Description and no follow-up. I purchased a used Yamaha Student Alto sax that was advertised as being above excellent and completely cleaned (being taken apart, soaked, and cleaned with anything necessary being replaced to play perfectly). Transaction started out 5-Stars. Requested pictures, they sent the next day. Placed order and sent out the same day.
When I received the package, the instrument was filthy on the inside and out. The mouthpiece was dirty and covered with scale and did not appear to be cleaned or sanitized. A few pads were completely decayed, several were cracked, some were caked with dirt and crystalized sugar. Food buildup on tone holes made playing extremely difficult. A handful of the rods were corroded. Requested refund a week ago. Emailed and messaged them several times.
Silence from seller since. Update: Response from vendor is false and misleading. Instrument was reported as in bad condition and not playing well within an hour of receipt and an RMA was requested 30 minutes later. Almost a week later with no response from the vendor a claim was filed. Instrument was purchased on Reverb and shipped 2,100 miles. If the vendor won't respond, simply bringing it in isn't an option. Reverb's claim agent was unable to get any response from Midlothian either for several days, so they took the instrument back on their own policy.
Instrument was misrepresented. It was in an older-generation case, so it was not a "newer horn". One of the pictures was from the actual instrument body showing it was in no way "super clean". I did remove the keys to clean the pads and the holes to try to be a good customer and avoid an unnecessary return. It was when I did this that I saw how bad the instrument was. Purchased through Reverb, so all communication history (one-way) is well-documented. The seller admitted the instrument was a mess that wouldn't play. The sad thing is the instrument was sent back to them in much better condition than I received it.

I have no idea what the people who are complaining about poor customer service are talking about. John the owner was incredibly accommodating when I went into the shop looking to buy a new bass. He pulled a number of items he thought I'd like from stock for me to try. I came back weeks later and purchased a g&l bass. He bent over backwards to ensure it played to my liking doing two setups and then polishing the frets to get rid of buzz.
He even met me in a parking lot to drop off my instrument to me to ensure I had my new bass in time for the gig! Who does that? Nobody! That's the point. This place rocks! Huge selection of high end, budget gear, and everything in between. I've bought a ton of instruments in my playing career and this was hands down the best experience I've had.
Will absolutely be going back. I have a feeling the folks who said the customer service was poor are narcissistic whack jobs. That's just my opinion though. Anyway this place is the best will certainly be going back.

Went in looking for a new guitar for my daughter. We were dealing with Keith which was very helpful in picking out a guitar. He was not pushy he sold us something that we felt would be a perfect fit for our daughter. He even played the guitar to show us how it sounded we will be back for sure. Great local business and experience would recommend to anybody. A thank you to Matt as well for giving us a big box to disguise the present for Christmas.

This place is great! I have been going here for some music purchases for over 7 years. From amps to pickups and of coarse guitars this place usually has what i am looking for. If not then they order it no problem! John really knows his stuff! Definitely check this place out when looking for your next instrument purchase.

I have been in this store no less than five times over the last three years and will never return. Each and every time I have been in, I have either been ignored as a customer or I've been treated rudely by the staff. I have no idea how they stay in business with this kind of customer service. When taking an instrument in for repair or servicing, they will immediately try to upsell other products that I never asked for (I get that.just trying to make a dollar), but they don't LISTEN.
The worst is the elderly gentleman that does the repairs and gives lessons. He is completely dismissive! My money is better spent elsewhere where I am appreciated as a customer.

Third time in the store and I think I will never go back. I asked about Nickel Thunderbird pickups and was told I was wrong because he knew what he was talking about(no metal pups ever). Then proceeded to sell a single string to another customer followed by a conversation while I waited. Then he goes to the other end of the counter and starts dialing the phone.
So I left, while i walked passed him I showed him my phone which had a picture of exact same nickel pups from Seymore Duncan. His "explanation"? "It's Christmas, I'm not paying attention". See ya! The last time I was there that same person was rather short with me too.

This is a wonderful local business that my family and I have been frequenting for the better part of 15 years. The owner, Leo, is very knowledgeable in pretty much any instrument you can bring in, and has been assisting us with instrument repairs of all kinds- violin, oboe, trumpet, saxophone, guitar. you name it. He also does lessons. He has very fair and honest pricing, and can answer pretty much any question you throw at him.
He should really charge just for that service! He also remembers all of his customers and treats them very nicely- truly feels like a home-town business. A rarity to find nowadays.

Awesome shop. If you have only been to the other location, do yourself a favor and make the drive to this one instead. They have an awesome selection of guitars to fit every budget. Even have the high end Ibanez and GJ2 IN STOCK! A malmsteen head sitting out on the floor! Staff is friendly, not intimidating at all. Highly recommended!

I absolutely love this place, and the people who work there. All of their prices are very fair, and they'll even match lower prices (most of the time). I dropped my guitar off there the week before Christmas (busy) to get my pickups replaced, and to have them completely re-wire my guitar in a new way. It was done in a DAY, and cost nearly half of what I thought it would. Their professional setups (electric guitar) are spot on, for a GREAT price. I do not have one complaint about this store. They are FANTASTIC.

These guys rock! The service is always so helpful and familiar, the prices are reasonable, and their knowledge on every product is admirable. The owner and his son train their staff well. My brothers, dad and I always buy our guitar strings for our acoustics, electrics, bass, and classical. We also own and run our own family business and we appreciate anyone else who does and does it well. I think I speak for us all when I say I wouldn't go anywhere else!
