Established in 1890, Conrad Music Service was at one point the 4th oldest family owned music store in the country. Founded as Conrad & Son Piano Co., Inc., by C.W. Conrad & Son Claude in 1890, it became Conrad Music Service in 1960. Specializing in school band & orchestra, Conrad Music Service calls on an average of 100 schools per week in approximately 25 counties in the Kentuckiana area. With 15 employees, Conrad Music Service each year readies up to 3,000 band & orchestra instruments to send into the hands of aspiring musicians at the start of school.

For most music stores, "service" is a word to use in their advertising. For Conrad Music Service, it's the first & most important thing that we provide to our customers. Service is the foundation of everything we do. Conrad Music Service is a full service music store. All of our road representatives carry repair tools & supplies, and are trained to take care of "on the spot" minor repairs for our customers, as well as school-owned instruments. This service is all free of charge, and saves all of our customers lost practice time, and thousands of dollars a year in repair costs.
Conrad Music Service is the largest band & orchestra full service music store in the Kentuckiana area. Servicing approximately 100 school band & orchestra programs, we rent a full range of woodwind, brass, percussion, and string instruments. Our trial purchase program is a month-to-month, rent-to-own plan, with your monthly payments applying toward the purchase of your instrument every month. All repairs & service are included during the rental term, and your equity transfers if you need to exchange to a different instrument.
Conrad Music Service works very closely with all of our Band & Orchestra directors, making sure that our rented instruments are delivered with the exact books, mouthpieces, reeds, and supplies your director wants you to have. We also keep a complete list of other accessories preferred by school & private instructors for your selection.

Great place to buy or rent-to-own musical instruments. Just got my son a Bach Trumpet today and it was a really fair price for a higher end instrument. Update: I had a unique request for a Jazz mouthpiece for trumpet. They were able to find it, price it, and order in 15 minutes. Still the best for all your music needs!

Conrad's performs an essential service in the area, but their pricing is less than transparent and their attempts be become a Shen dealer have been marginal at best. We tried to order a 3/4 size Shen Bass through them in Feb 2019 and were repeatedly given extended delivery dates. When a lower model bass than requested finally came in, the trade in value for the 1/2 size bass we had purchased from them was suddenly also 1/2 of what we were initially told. There was no estimate for when the model we requested would be available.
