KYR Music was founded in 2002 by Karen and Richard Firman. Our goal, from day one, has been to support our local and upcoming musicians through, not only our store, but through music advocacy as well. KYR offers Sales, Lessons, Rentals, and Repairs of a wide range of instruments as well as out of store clinics for local schools and groups. Richard is a local, professional, musician that is still active in groups throughout Southern California. A graduate of Cal Poly Pomona, by way of the University of Tulsa and Mt.

Disappointed. I rented a trumpet for my son in the 6th grade. I paid $31 a month for the school year. They gave me the trumpet and I'm not a musician, so I didn't know to take it all apart and check it out to make sure they gave me a good one. I just went to return it and they take it all apart, but say a certain part is stuck. They told me my 11 year old son should've known to take it apart, clean it and grease it. I'm a working mom with a son who wanted to try the trumpet, and I wish when they handed us the trumpet and I paid the rental price, they would've taken the time to explain the trumpet needed to be taken apart, cleaned and greased.
They said it's common for people not to know. I'm left wondering why they don't take a minute to warn their customers at the start of the rental. They said they would send the trumpet for repair and let me know how much I would have to pay for the repair. I paid for the protection plan every month, so they said that would mean I only have to pay half of the repair bill.
I feel scammed because I honestly don't know if the trumpet part was already stuck when I got it and now if I'm just paying additional to repair their trumpet after paying months of rental and payment protection. Hopefully this review helps other hard working busy parents in the future.

We recently began online lessons with Adrien through KYR. Not only is he professional but so accommodating, patient, skilled, and talented. He is very willing to teach at different levels and meets a student where they are at in their progress. He treats his students with respect and displays the perfect balance between being patient and encouraging them to strive for more. The supportive staff at KYR has also been incredibly kind and helpful.

I had rented a trumpet for my son for elementary school use. The first one we rented had an issue and they replaced it right away with a working trumpet. The rental fee was reasonable and the monthly auto-deductions worked well for me. The staff is knowledgeable and very welcoming. I never left the store feeling ignorant because they take the time to give respectful explanations. My son used the trumpet for two years and we recently returned it. I would use KYR again at any time. They have been a pleasure to do business with.

Terrible customer service. Walked in, no other customers there. Just asked to drop off for a guitar restring. The older gentlemen there asked what I needed, i told him, and then for about 10 minutes he took multiple phone calls and typed into the computer, just having me stand there with my guitar. After standing there like an idiot for 10min I walked out, taking my business elsewhere.

I recently was given the guitar my mom had as a teenager, and being that I'd never really learned to play guitar before, I had no idea what kind of work it needed or if it was even playable. Sam Ash made a big deal about looking at it so I decided to call KYR and see what they had to say. Ended up bringing it in and the gentleman that helped me out literally could not have been more helpful or kind to my low-confidence in both its playability and my own ability to learn this late in life.
He cleaned it up, got it looking fresh and spiffy, helped me out with strings and tuning too. I didn't feel like he was trying to like, sell me things I didn't need either. He was very honest throughout helping me, had great customer service. Most importantly though had the knowledge that I had been looking for with regards to this guitar. Knew what needed to be done and made it happen. Didn't try to make me replace all the original hardware that I wanted to keep. I'll definitely be coming back here for all my musical needs. Seriously, thank you again for everything.

My daughter recently joined the school band. We had a list of supplies to purchase, the gentleman who helped us did so very nicely. One of the items (horn grease) was out of stock so he graciously gave us a half full bottle for free. The other supplies were in stock. I braced myself for a costly check out but in the end I was shocked at how inexpensive our purchase total was. This will definitely be our go to music supply store.

We have been coming here for years, and we have yet to be let down. This visit involved having a violin restrung and tuned. The employee was nice and assured us the job would be done within 24 hours. To our surprise, we received a telephone call two hours later. The work had been completed, and the violin was ready for pickup. Upon arriving to pick it up, the employee was friendly, and the service was fast.
