The flute produces a high, clear sound and is the most agile of the woodwinds. To play the flute you hold it sideways, set your lips as if you were about to whistle, and then blow across the air hole. Although the modern flute is made entirely of metal, the flute originally was fashioned from wood and is still considered a member of the woodwind family.
There are two groups within the percussion family: rhythmic and melodic. The rhythmic group, which includes instruments like the snare drum and the bass drum, is responsible for the pulse that drives the band during a piece of music. All hand-held percussion instruments, such as the tambourine, maracas, and claves, are members of the rhythmic group as well.

Certainly the best repair technicians in the Florida panhandle, possibly much farther but I won't comment from lack of experience. I've had work done on my saxophones by both Michael and John and they are both capable of setting up my horns to the highest professional calibration, often fixing things that I was completely unaware of, even as a professional musician. Their pricing is extremely fair, but that's just the cherry on top of excellent craftsmanship!

This place is stellar. Every one was friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. My violin had a small crack, and needed service. The repair department was quick and efficient! I had my instrument back in a day and half. The staff made sure I knew exactly what I needed and where to go. I highly recommend them for all your musical needs.

I first got my son's violin at this place. The staff educated me with what we need to know and we got the best service from this place. I recently placed an order and request to be shipped and it arrived 2-3 days after. Affordable materials and good programs they offered. Now that ai have to visit the place, the service we received today was the same service we got when we first purchased the violin 2019. Very professional. They made it so easy. The string snap and we have to put a new one. They took care of it 15 without a fuss. Great job!

Wonderful, friendly staff that works regularly with local high schools, and even delivers to the school when repairs are needed. We bought a sax from them on the rent to own plan, and had no trouble getting the thing fixed as good as new (100% free under the rent to own plan) in just a couple days. When it comes to band instruments, Schmidt's is really the only game in Pensacola that matters.

I couldn't tell you with any degree of certainty if this store is pricey, stocked with all a musicians needs or if their instrument selection is worthy of being highlighted. However a couple times a year for the last several years somebody in the fam has needed their repair service. I'm thankful they exist. Their work, care, service and expertise is awesome as well as wonderfully consistent. Whatever it is, friendly, familiar, maybe even nostalgia this little store is what I think all music stores want to be. Keep up the good work!

In all the music shops I've been to Schmidt's is the best by far. They aren't at all stand-offish and they truly want to help their customers. All the times I've gone a women I saw helped me figure out my problem and helped me find the best option considering the circumstances. I would say her name but I'm not sure how she would feel about that so I'll call her "Superwoman". Superwoman was so fast and quick to help me and when she had another customer she would help me, find a stopping point, then go find them what they needed in a flash so no one would have to wait for an unreasonable amount of time. She'd be right back and very attentive to my issues.
And all of her coworkers were working with their own customers and everyone seemed to be very happy. They also sell everything for a reasonable price so you never get a bad deal. And if they don't have what you are looking for they will do everything in their power to help you find, not only an item with quality, but also one that is within your price range.
Now the reason why I love Schmidt's is because it is a very family friendly environment. You could walk in and feel comfortable in your own skin without judgement like some other stores. Schmidt's is part of my music family and if you ever come around the area I would go give it a try. It may have been just what you're were looking for.

I love their store! They are so quick and helpful with fixing instruments. For example, the other day, my flute broke right before a symphony rehearsal I had, and I called and came immediately to the store. 10 minutes later, the flute was as good as new and I was on my way to play it! They didn't even charge me for it! wow! Thanks for your service guys! You are fast, sweet, and talented!

Schmidt's Music specializes in school band and orchestra instruments, so you can find a wide range of Flutes, Clarinets, Trumpets, Trombones, Violins, or Violas just to name a few. They basically covered every single known brand there is. From the brand names to the average/generic brands, they have it all. I was here with my wife to look for a "step-up" flute and we browsed through their large selection.
We ended up purchasing a Yamaha flute for about $1,200 I think. After comparing this price to other competitors, we figured out that we actually payed more than the average price for the flute. Be aware that they are a bit pricier since they are the only wind instrumental music store in town. We usually come to purchase supplies here for my son also, and the supplies are not exactly cheap either.
Four Clarinet reeds cost me about $20 with tax. On Amazon, the price was $20 for the entire box. I don't entirely blame them for the high prices though. They provide pretty great service to their customers. When I was browsing through their options, the gentleman guiding me through the process was very patient with my wife and her questions. (She asks A LOT of questions before purchasing an item.). Schmidt's also has an instrument repair shop in the back, but they also charge an arm and a leg for it.
They charged about $80-$100 to fix a stuck key, while Blue Angels Music cost me about $40. Overall, Schmdt's is a pretty great instrumental store for your band or orchestral needs. They satisfied my needs. Oh, and just a random note ~ I think Schmidts does private lessons on site.
