Matt's Music Center

I just discovered Matt's this past week and I'm so glad I did. Not only do they have quality gear but also excellent customer service. I was able to take my time and compare two guitars I was thinking about purchasing and walked away with a fantastic Suhr Classic S. It was a good thing I walked out when I did because they have so much great stuff I might've just kept buying gear. I can't recommend Matt's enough and look forward to going back sometime in the future.

I purchased a Rivolta Combinata from Matt's Music Center and it arrived on Monday. The guitar is beautiful and plays absolutely amazing! I can only assume that it was professionally setup by Matt's because it plays perfectly. The guitar was packaged insanely well and the bubble wrap was packed in to every corner of the box. The communication from Matt's Music Center was excellent and it gave me a lot of confidence to order an expensive guitar sight unseen. I am very impressed and I will buy my next high end guitar from Matt's Music Center!

Jay, Brendan and Joey are awesome. I have bought a few Nash guitars here which I think are the best Fender style guitars on the planet and had a great buying experience. I have consigned several items here and there was no hassle or stress involved with the sales. They take 25 percent but it saves me the hassle from dealing with flakes, scammers, bargain hunters and the delivery services. Great selection of higher end new and used electric guitars and amps.

These guys are the best and my go to place for buying guitars, amps, and pedals. They have a great range of instruments from basic mass produced brands to high quality instruments that are hand made from boutique builders and everything in between. They are knowledgeable and always willing to go the extra mile to provide outstanding customer service. They are fair and will work with you on consignment and flexibility on terms to get you the best deal, and advice on care and set up. Keep up the great work!

The best guitar store - period. Yes, the selection of guitars and amps is unique and compelling. They have things you won't see on the wall or floor anywhere else in New England. The real stand-out here though, is the customer service/interaction. It's ALWAYS a positive experience stopping by Matt's. Not only is there "dream gear" every direction you look, but Jay and Brendan are friendly, personable, and helpful.

They may not have 100's of guitars to chose from, but they do have - consistently - some of the most beautiful and well-playing guitars you'll find anywhere. AND it evolves regularly, which make stopping in - even every week or two; it's an absolute treat to stop in and see what's new on the wall or floor. Matt's is an "Award Winning" music store - and you will find that they deserve those accolades every time you vist.

The first guitar I bought. San Dimas, original factory in California, guitar. Lent to my nephew for 18 years. Found with a broken neck in his basement. The Jackson Guitar people recommended Matt's in Massachusetts to look at it. Got it back a few days ago. Just played it for an hour. Incredible repair work. Plays like a dream. Thanks Jay. Great local music store with staff who are knowledgeable and helpful. Got a fair trade in value on my Takamine and picked up a fantastic Alvarez acoustic. Highly recommend these guys.

Great to do business with so far. Had Jay help me with ENGL Ironball and Mesa Boogie mini rectifier 1x12 cab purchase since I needed to downsize my guitar rig due to apartment living and wanted light gear for small club gigs. Good pricing, fast shipping and Jay was receptive to my questions and very patient. Good stuff! ENGL amps are hard to find in the larger box stores so these folks delivered as expected.

I worked with Jay at Matt's Music Center and had a great experience. Buying a guitar sight unseen can be an anxiety filled experience; Jay was patient with me, sending all of the info and pics I requested. I had a great experience with these guys. I drove about 60 miles to check it out and wasn't disappointed. Super friendly staff gave me a more than fair offer for my trade in. Answered all of my questions without the whatever attitude you get at certain box stores. Very down to earth and was made to feel welcome. It's a gear junkies paradise with great high end gear. My only complaint is that after my visit I am about 4000 lighter in the wallet. Also banned from the south shore by my girl. I'll sneak back soon though!

I came across Matt's Music online and noticed they carry a ton of great high end gear. Online shopping for this kind of stuff can be tough so I was a bit nervous at first but Jay made it VERY easy! I ended up placing an order and had the amp a few days later and can say firsthand that the guys at Matt's both know their stuff! Great "local" place for online shoppers and real people that will actually answer the phone. 5 stars just might not be enough!

Matt's Music is hands down the best music shop on the shore. The staff is always more than willing to help me pick out gear and they have a huge selection of guitars that you can't find anywhere else. I love this place!

This is a world class store with great gear and great people. I've never had a negative experience with these guys in person or online. Matt and Jay are great musicians and really know their stuff. Without a doubt my favorite music store on the east coast! Support these guys! They have way better gear than online retailers and will match any price!

Matts Music is an awesome locally owned music shop! I've been going there since they were in the Pleasant Shops, but the new location is even better. The owner Matt and Manager Jay are both accomplished musicians and know their stuff. The instructors are incredibly talented as well. Despite being a local shop they have a huge niche online presence selling top quality boutique gear.

The wall of Suhr and Tom Anderson guitars is amazing not to mention the gorgeous amps like Dr. Z. You just can't find that stuff anywhere. Seriously it's worth seeing even if you're just window shopping. If you're looking for some new gear or lessons I HIGHLY recommend them. They always provide the service and attention the National and online stores just can't deliver.

After 3 long tiring days of dealing with Guitar Center and nearly being ripped off by almost $1,400.00 when i tried to place a simple order with them, I stumbled across the website for Matt's Music via a Google search. I could not be happier with the VERY prompt, professional, and friendly service that can be found at Matt's Music. After e-mailing one of their associates, I called their store and had my order painlessly placed in a matter of minutes. Great staff, great gear! 5/5 stars!

Matt, Jay, and overall Matt's Music are killer. New location is also pretty killer. Clean, well laid out, and of the brands they stock, you'll find anything from the 'entry-level' version to a $4000 plus version. Probably the best part is the guys. The last few years with the downturn economy all the fellows that actually KNEW anything had to get other jobs as the 'mom & pops' have gotten killed by guitar center. (Which ive gotten so frustrated overhearing ex-burger flippers trying to talk guitars at GC ive been known to inject corrections while they present) Somehow Matt's has endured the bad economy and gotten bigger! Matt and Jay are very cool laid back guys who will be happy to help you tear into a top of the line Warwick on a top shelf Mesa Boogie.

And then treat you first rate if you so choose to buy a cheaper model. Price-wise, i dont know if anyone even haggles in music stores, but at Matt's you have no reason to. They must be HIGHLY in tune with websites, GC, etc since every price they've ever given me is right in line where you hope it is. I wish they were closer to home for me, i have to drive an hour to the store, but it's worth it to deal with these guys. They're top notch

I've been going to Matt's music for about 10 years now - I started guitar lessons there when I was 9 years old and have had a few different teachers there. Some were great and others weren't but I was able to get a new instructor if that was the case. While Matt's isn't the place to get a cheap instrument, it's a great place to get high end gear that plays well and will last. I've had nothing but good experiences at this store and will be going back very soon!

I cannot say enough about my experience at Matt's Music: beautiful, clean, and inviting store, amazing high-end gear at great prices, and Matt himself was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the amps I tried out during my visit. Why go to your local chain retailer (where you have to sift through mountains of over-priced mediocre gear) when you can support an amazing local store full of the best gear around?! Matt's is moving to another Weymouth location March 2012. Bigger practice rooms will be great. Acoustic guitar teacher knowledgeable and helped me with technique, etc. I have future lessons set up and looking forward to progressing!

This rating is only for their acoustic guitar lessons. I wanted to give them 2.5 stars. I signed up for a 4-pack of lessons which were very nicely given to me as a gift. I really can't say my experience was devistating.but. I did not continue after my 4th appointment. The teacher was OK, he was knowledgable, and qualified. But in my frank opinion, I just didn't play enough during the lesson. (and I'm not the type to consider my lesson part of my practice routine) We did a lot of talking, and I watched him play a lot.

I felt he needed to see me play more, and this just didn't happen enough. Maybe the lesson lengths were too short. The typical lesson is only 30 minutes long, which really isn't long enough for me. If I decided to go ahead with these guys, I would've requested 45 min. lessons, but then of course it would've probably cost more.hmf.

The rooms are a tad cramped.they're the typical 1-person practice room size. It wasn't a complete waste of time. I picked up a couple pointers, but I might've picked up the same by watching YouTube videos. Maybe I just didn't have the right "teacher/student" chemistry.

Diezel guitar amps are somewhat of a rare breed, so you can't just walk into Guitar Center and pick one up. They're also a bit on the pricey side so expect to lay down some bank when you find one. Salwender International is the distributor but you'll only find a handful of shops they sell to since Diezel is a one man boutique type of outfit.

Surprisingly the best deal I could find was at Matt's in Massachussetts and not only did they get me a good deal, they got a head and cab out to me pronto. Now the first cab had a tear in the Tolex and they replaced it pretty quickly. That's amazing from something as large and unruly as a speaker cabinet. Great customer service considering they're across the country from me.

This place is pretty good. Decent selection, fair prices, nice staff. I prefer the Kingston location, though it's smaller, it's never as busy. If you're on the south shore and looking for music equipment, check this place out.
