All pianos need tuning on a regular basis, primarily because the piano's soundboard is made of wood and is subject to seasonal expansion and contraction. For average use, many people are satisfied with once a year. Most manufacturers recommend 2-4 tunings per year. In a concert hall setting, a piano may be tuned much more, such as once a week or more.
Clem Fortuna has been tuning pianos since the 1970's. He graduated from Piano Technology Inc in Southfield, MI, and has worked for Abbey Piano Co, Midwest Piano Distributors, Piano Nation and Evola Music, and has been a member of the Piano Technicians Guild since 1987, serving at various times as chapter president, vice president and treasurer.
