The same standard of service is delivered for every client, whether they need a student level repair or a top line pro custom modification. Our entire business growth has been based on referrals from, and solid relationships with, members of the community. In addition to personal clients, we're proud of the relationships we currently have with numerous band and orchestra programs in the Lowcountry area.
Services
Southern String Supply is proud to offer our products online for purchase! We offer shipping or local pick up here in Mt. Pleasant. Please take a look at our many offerings, including instrument packages, guitar and uke accessories, as well as band and orchestra accessories! Also known as one of the "4 K's" or "Big 4", these beautiful handcrafted koa instruments are made in Hawaii. The unique bracing and attention to detail make them sound incredible.
We provide a month to month lease, not a rent to own contract. This helps to keep you from paying extra maintenance and financing fees. A down payment of two months is the initial payment, you receive a free month, and then monthly payments begin in the third month. There is no limit to how long or short your lease is, just return the instrument when you're finished!

Came in today, first time customer. Not a big spender just looking for some sheet music and some rosin. I was treated very well and was given good advice when I asked. I was pleasantly surprised to see a Dulcimer there and they let me in the back room to give it a spin. I had to stop early otherwise I would have been in the back of the store trying to relearn how to play it all day! I've got my eye on that thing.

I called to ask about a potential repair (my sound post fell) to a student violin. The sales rep who answered the phone was rather abrupt, and slightly condescending when he told me that the violin was "too cheap to produce a decent sound" and that they wouldn't "waste their time" trying to fix it. He instructed me to "take it back to where ever you got it" and then immediately went into a sales pitch trying to sell me one of their instruments (which was roughly the same price).
While I understand my Cecilio is no Stradivari, it is a well known and recommended student/beginner/learner violin. The sound post is an important structural piece that not only provides tonal resonance, but also structural support. I wasn't asking them to make it sound like a $10K violin, but to simply replace the piece so tightening the strings didn't induce stress to the body and potentially crack the face of my instrument. The idea that they couldn't/wouldn't make the instrument safe to play based solely on brand/price is a bit ridiculous, and frankly insulting.

The gentleman and Erin that I have interacted with there, are so kind, helpful and want to see other string players excel to their best abilities. The walk along side you each step, even after your child has graduate HS and still has the desire to play, they'll guide you through to where they believe would be the best fit for your child to continue to grow and excel. Couldn't have found a better place for my little cellist.

This place is amazing. I have bought a violin, two bows, and various other accessories from this shop, and every time it has been a great experience. I love supporting this local business, and they have a great selection of string instruments (and even some Chinese instruments, like a pipa and a guzheng!). By far the best part of the shop is the service.
The employees are extremely helpful and genuinely want to help young musicians. I have had to get my violin repaired twice now, and both times the staff went above and beyond getting my violin fixed. I'm so glad for the opportunity to support a local music shop, and I would encourage everyone in the area to do the same, instead of buying some instrument off of Amazon or Shar. (Oh, and I live 45 minutes away from this shop, which tells you how committed I am to it and its people). Thank you so much Southern String Supply for supporting all my musical endeavors!
