Great experience with having two pianos moved yesterday. Braydon and Zephyr were extremely efficient, quite knowledgeable and took pride in their work, all while being positive and cheerful. They took care each step of the way to ensure the integrity of the pianos were maintained as if it were their own.

We Love Doing Moves for this company! They are absolutely amazing. Tom Masi is absolutely amazing and very knowledgeable with his Pianos. His experience is amazing and we send people them for any type of piano purchasing needs or accessories. They crew down there is so cool. It's also amazing to see the company around for so long and held to such a high standard as well! Thank you for working with us and keeping the pianos playing.

Outstanding service. We came in looking for a piano which was out of stock at the time. The owner let us borrow a piano until the other one was in stock, so that I wouldn't get behind in my piano class. As well as buying my past instruments to help us with the price of a new piano. They definitely care about students having access and learning piano.

I notice there are mixed reviews for Carpenter's. I want to acknowledge the young man who helped me. I was thinking of getting a keyboard for my son but was concerned about the size in relation to the space he lives in. After looking at them, I decided that wasn't an option. After having a really nice conversation with the young man helping me about his experience with learning different kinds of instruments, I ended up getting a Ukulele. They do have a beautiful selection of pianos. Customer service does matter and I was impressed with the young man working there. I didn't encounter any other employees.

I walked in ready to drop 5-10k on a grand piano, and now I won't even buy guitar strings here. When I first walked in the lady at the front had a mask on. So far so good. I went to go try out pianos and the sales manager was in the back, no mask. While it is inside, he was pretty far away so I let it go. He asked my wife and I if we were looking to buy a piano and I said yes, and he went back to what he was doing.
I played different pianos in my price range trying to find one I want. After a few minutes the sales manager walked up to us (mask in hand, not on his face) so I stepped back quite a few feet. I guess he didn't take the hint. He asked us again, quite rudely, if we were looking to buy a piano and I said "I told you before that we were, did you not hear me or believe me?" And he said he did hear me but people come in just wanting to "jam out" and if we plan to buy we can play all we want otherwise go to a different room to play because he can't get work done while there is music. Are you kidding me?
This dude works in a piano store. Yet can't do work while there is music? That's insane. He was very rude to a potential customer who was ready to walk out of the store having dropped a large chunk of money. We went into the other room to play other pianos, and he eventually came in and gave a half hearted apology (put his mask on, but still below the nose, not doing any good) and talked to us about random small talk stuff.
I am a small business owner and I would never be so rude to a potential customer, even if they were just shopping around and not serious, and I would never just assume someone can't afford my services, especially if they told me once they were serious about buying. I walked in very excited (I have been waiting many years to be able to afford/have space for a grand piano) and walked out very dissapointed, anxious, and possibly with a deadly disease.

I happened upon this store a few months ago when I first relocated to Reno, however, being a Sunday the store was understandably closed. Today taking a drive to get out of the house I decided to revisit. I am certainly glad that I did. I had thought about purchasing a full-size 88-key electronic keyboard with weighted keys so I could start playing again even when I relocated a lot and did not want to incur the expense of moving a piano.
The helpful clerk behind the counter informed me that I could also rent. This seemed the perfect solution to take a Yamaha keyboard for a test drive. Moreover, there is not set term on the rental which for me added a huge benefit given my frequent moving. As they had no keyboards in stock for rent, the owner Wendell Carpenter indicated I could rent the unit on the showroom floor.
When I said that would be fine but the training stickers on the keys noting the key such as middle C, etc. needed to come off. He had one of the employees remove all 88 stickers and clean the keys. Unfortunately, the keys still had residue which would have made playing unpleasant. Even though I already had the bench in my vehicle and had paid for the rental, they had no problem canceling the rental agreement.
To me that is a sure sign of integrity. On the drive home, Wendell called me and said he had cleaned the keyboard with denatured alcohol and that removed the residue. Given the honest dealing I had had with him I took his word. He asked what he could do to make up for the inconvenience and he agreed to deliver the keyboard and bench. I was more than surprised when about an hour later Wendell called me again saying he had the keyboard and bench and was outside ready for delivery.
Talk about great customer service! I am truly lucky to have had Wendell present when I went to the store. I did find another older and heavy-set gentlemen unpleasant when he castigated the employee removing the stickers from the keys. When the employee told him Wendell had given him the direction he relented. I also found it very disconcerting that he did not believe he needed to keep a face mask on in the middle of a pandemic inside a retail establishment.
If you are in the market for a rental keyboard, I would highly recommend Carpenter's provided Wendell and not the other gentleman is present. Carpenter's also has a great selection of pianos, both uprights, baby grands, and grands for purchase and I would not hesitate to go back. Too bad I can't strap a piano to my roof when I relocate!

We rented a trumpet and a saxophone last school year (2018-2019) for our middle school musicians. The service at the beginning was terrific however getting our deposit back has been a nightmare. The instruments were returned over the summer and here it is almost 2020 and I have had to make numerous phone calls to get the deposit back. As off 12/30/19 we still have not received it. I have had another promise that "the check is in the mail" today. I would not recommend renting if this is the service at the end of the contract.

Carpenters is GREAT! I decided to finally start playing the piano, which had been a life long dream of mine and I am so glad I went to Carpenter's. I went in not knowing a thing about piano's, and Wendell helped me along the way. I came into the store about 4 or 5 times before I finally decided to make a purchase, and Wendell was so nice and helpful each and every time. He's very knowledgeable, friendly, and really a great pianist. I am so glad I made the purchase and I've been playing my beautiful piano every day non stop! Thank you Wendell.

My husband and I had decided to purchase a piano as a Christmas present, and we had a limited budget. We had stopped in at one other store prior to Carpenter's and honestly felt that our meager budget was a bit scoffed at. They didn't have any in our price range but thought they might in a few days, so we left. I didn't realize that Carpenter's had previously owned pianos, but we thought we'd stop in and check.
Not only were they able to easily work within our budget, but they were AWESOME in there and had quite a large variety from which to choose! We were greeted promptly when we walked in by a genuinely friendly staff. When we told them what we were looking for, they got Tom Masi to help us out. He was truly fantastic! Genuine, kind, and he played great tunes on a variety of pianos so we could hear what they would sound like played by an actual player, as opposed to a tinkerer such as myself.
Great prices, great selection, and amazing staff. Purchasing was easy and setting up a delivery date and time was a breeze. Stop here first if you are looking for a used piano!

From the owner to the desk and floor people, the staff at Carpenter's made me feel like one of the family. I had some problems with a purchase and they kept insisting that all they want is for me, the customer, to be happy. They worked with me on my problem and helped me solve it. In the end I purchased a new digital piano, somethng I knew nothing about. But with the care and time spent on my behalf I am truly pleased with my purchase. Thank you Mr. Carpenter, and all the fine people that work for you.

I've rented a violin from Carpenter's for the last seven months. I explored several rental options in town and Carpenter's was the least expensive choice. The violin I rented was only a couple years ago and it sounds beautifully. I have received excellent customer service each time I've been in the shop with a question about my instrument, and they have a great selection of music books and world music instruments. I'd highly recommend them.

GO ANYWHERE ELSE! Went in with my little grandson who rents a trombone from these yayhoos. Lady behind the counter is on the phone. Young man at the register with one customer. Another man at the other counter. Lady continues to take phone calls, 3 more in fact, while telling me she will be with me shortly. She then asks us to walk to another register, where she tells me, she has to use the register to continue her phone call.
She proceeds to speak to the person on the phone and eventually tells me to take the valve oil back to the other counter for the initial person to ring up. I asked if there is any other place to buy valve oil and am told, there is not. Then I am told patience is a virtue. That if I buy it elsewhere I will pay more. No apology for the wait, the walk, the poor customer service. I would drive to Sacramento to avoid these negative folks who clearly believe they are without competition and can treat their customers badly.
