I play in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and recently bought a new Alexander 103 from Wichita Band Instrument Co. They were helpful, expedient, and the price was great! I enjoyed working with John, and they have gone above and beyond to make sure that I've been happy with every aspect of my purchase. Very highly recommended.

Shameful! No longer repairs instruments unless you bought that same instrument from them. I had previously bought a horn from them and a mouthpiece but they refused to work on a different instrument I owned. When I asked where else I could go Gary said he had no recommendations. Well I have one, Senseney music down the street! They do great work.

I went in with the intention of purchasing a new mouthpiece for my trombone. The gentleman in the front was very friendly and gave me a couple options to try from and said I was welcome to try them out on my horn in the practice room. I went in, set my jacket on the table to lay my instrument on and proceeded to grab my slide oil out of my small backpack (which is my hands length long and across, no bigger than your average sized handbag).
As I was greasing up my slide, the older man came in and informed me that backpacks weren't allowed in the practice room. I said okay and placed my bag outside the room on the counter. I went back to prepping my horn and before I could even try the new mouthpiece, he said to me "Yeah you know what, jackets aren't allowed in here either. It'd be easy to put a mouthpiece in your jacket and walk out". Considering I was the only customer in the building at the time in a practice room with clear windows, I felt very disrespected and ended up leaving before I even tried the new mouthpieces out.
I figured it wasn't worth the hassle to purchase something from someone who at first glance assumes you're going to steal from them. Another thing to note, I was here a couple weeks ago with some friends and I was in the same practice room while my friend was trying out some of their horns with several different mouthpieces and I had both my jacket and bag on but not once did anyone ever come by with the concern of my stealing something.

The work done was very good. My problem is the owner is rude and I guess feels that he has too much business and can walk off from a customer when he feels like it. I was commenting on the fact that I was not called, as I was promised, when the work exceeded a certain amount. I had already told the one person I was paying for it, I just wanted to express my dismay.
I'm not sure I will do business with them again and will be talking to the school district that recommended them. I think the parents need to know who they deal with and what kind of person they may be supporting. Again very sad because the technician did very good work.

Took my horn to Wichita Band today for a minor repair. Individual helping me was rude and angry. Implied that I wasn't a customer due to my needing warranty work on a horn from another dealership done. As if he wasn't get paid. I've been a customer for 6 years. Likely won't be in the future. The other instrument store in town gladly took the business.
