Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Helped my daughter pick out an upgraded violin. She must have tried 10 before we found the right one. I recommend them!

I really like Meyer Music. Their store is always fully stocked and their prices are reasonable. I have always found them to be very knowledgeable on all instruments. I can count on them to perform great repairs on any instrument I send in. Their billing department and organization is fantastic.

Highly recommend! It was time to get my daughter ready for middle school band and we were in need of some flute repair. I took the flute first to Marshall Music in Portage for a quote on repair costs.estimate $320. I decided to search online to get a second opinion and found Meyer. Stopped by with the flute one day. Super friendly employees explained the process, flute would be sent to their Holland store, I'd get a call with cost, and decide if I wanted to go ahead with repairs or not.

No cost for this estimate, just time, took about two days. I got a call two days later.estimate $96! Seriously! I almost didn't believe them. Of course I had them go ahead and repair. I was told it might take a few weeks but to my surprise less than one week later I was able to pick it up completed. I highly recommend this store and their services.

I've had nothing but good interactions with this store over a few decades of my middle school and highschool tutoring/renting/buying supplies, and my sons music career so far. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They aren't pushy in any way. A nice clean store to browse around.

The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and their rental prices were competitive (as well as offering a discount if you pay for a full year in advance). My son and I were in and out in 15 minutes, although we may have lucked out timing-wise. The rental process is simple and well-considered. I was asked to give either my SSN or my MI license # which is understandable as the cello we rented retails at a little over $1500 (I opted for the MI license).

The plus side is that all rental fees count as credit towards the purchase of a brand new instrument down the road if the music love continues into high school. All in all a positive experience that will hopefully help my son's love of music grow!

Although there are closer music stores to me (I live in Rockford) Meyer Music has my loyalty. I have rarely received better customer service in all aspects. From buying a $12 music book to renting a $2000 instrument, they give top notch customer service all the way around. Their service department is incredibly thorough and fast. I recommend Meyer Music above all others!

In my experience, this is a good, if typical, music store. The staff have been welcoming and helpful, but also let me browse when I wanted to read the fine print on things and look around. Being a brick-and-mortar store, prices are not of the online variety, but they have a decent selection of the accessories I've needed so far and I've gotten good pointers from the staff.

This place is about half a block south of 28th Street in Kentwood/southern Grand Rapids. A little Honey Baked Ham building is on the south side of the intersection of Lake Eastbrook Blvd and 28th Street. There is also a Panera nearby on 28th Street. I mention these landmarks because at first I could not find Meyer Music. The sign can't be seen from 28th.

No one attended me when I came in. Had to ask for help. There are better music stores in town. Their prices are way too high.

Caveat Emptor: Rent instruments at your own risk. I did not have a good experience renting, or should I say, attempting to rent, in store. While Meyer Music's rental prices are very competitive, their rental policies are outdated and a security risk. MM requires you to write your Social Security number on their rental agreement, despite the fact they do not actually do a credit check unless the rental value is over $1000 (by their own admission). FACT1: Most middle school rental instruments cost well below $1000. FACT2: Having a SSN will not necessarily prevent, nor recover, lost revenue from defaulted loans or rentals.

The owner and his finance manager stated they consider themselves a "financial institution" because they are renting out expensive equipment, so therefore have a right to ask for a SSN. FACT3: I think banks would beg to differ that a music store is a financial institution, but in any case, you, as a customer, are not legally required to give your SSN to a private business.

There is no law that prevents businesses from requesting your SSN, but keep in mind there are few restrictions on what businesses can do with it. I offered to give them a copy of my *stellar* credit report in lieu of my SSN; they refused. Although they had no intention of actually using my SSN and doing a credit check because the instrument I wanted was below $400, I asked if they were willing to lose my business if they didn't have my SSN on the rental application.

They said yes, which perhaps indicates their antiquated business practices trumps new business, customer loyalty, and more importantly, preventing identity theft. I bought an instrument from a private owner instead and paid cash. http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10064.html http://www.privacyrights.org/fs/fs10-ssn.htm http://cpsr.org/issues/privacy/ssn-private/
