Our services are comprehensive. We do repairs, fine restoration work, bow repair and rehairing, and appraisals. In addition, we maintain the most complete and reliable rental program in the country. We stock an extensive selection of books, sheet music, Suzuki materials, cases and accessories - some exclusive to JSI - that can be purchased directly from our stores in Massachusetts, by mail, or via the Internet. If you need anything for your violin, viola, cello, or bass, we have it!

The members of our repair staff are all highly-trained craftspeople who have come to string instrument repair from various backgrounds, including art restoration, instrument making, and fine woodworking. With degrees from the Chicago School of Violin-making, Shanghai Conservatory and the North Bennett Street School, among other fine institutions, together they offer a combined professional experience of over 60 years, coupled with a unique blend of artistic sensitivity and technical knowledge. The Johnson repair staff functions as a cohesive unit which welcomes input from other restoration experts; this intermingling of shared knowledge has enabled Johnson's to reach the very highest repair standards.
