A: A guitar setup is like getting a check-up at the dentist- even if there isn't something immediately recognizably wrong, it's still recommended that you go twice a year! A guitar tech will do a "check-up" on your guitar, making adjustments as needed to make sure all parts of your guitar are in balance.

I'd been longing to buy a new guitar! I'm so happy that I finally bought it here! All staff were friendly and helpful. The man who served me knew a lot about the guitars I was looking. Great prices as well. Highly recommended for beginners who don't know much about guitars. These guys won't try and sell you anything you don't need or want.

Bought a very very cheap acoustic guitar from these folks about 12 years ago. Good quality guitar too. The nicest thing about this place is that they really don't care about how much money you're there to spend with them. They treat all of their customers like royalty. If you're looking to purchase a guitar be sure to pay these guys a visit before making your final decision. You won't regret it.

Came in and was immediately given pretty much full run of anything I wanted. Tried out some amazing quilter amps that no one else in the la area seems to have and played some amazing guitars I’ve not seen elsewhere. Incredibly happy and will be going back.
Westwood Music is an example of what an Indy music shop should be.

I wish I could give Westwood Music 5 stars over and over again. First off everyone there at the store is super friendly and relaxed. They didn't seem to mind when I picked up any guitar to play. They don't have as many guitars as the Corporate store with the employees that have no clue (you know who I'm talkin about) but every guitar I picked up had superb tone and feel!
Some that looked real vintage too! Like the Ricky 12 with the 6 string comb! Well.as there are no Pleking machines where I live. I drove all the way down from Ventura to have my Brand New Old Stock (2011) Chinese Gretsch 5135CVT (Corvette) guitar Plekd as when I lowered the action it fretted out and choked notes high and low. I came to pick it up and it was better and pretty good, however I still wanted it as low as it could possibly be like my 1969 Gibson SG which is like a 'Fretless Wonder'.
I have little hands and I can feel the slightest amount. The house luthier, David listened to what I was saying.and within seconds without making a face or batting an eyelash he said "wait.give me a few more minutes with it." He went back into his shop where I heard some grinding and whizzing and saw him twisting and turning over the guitar like a surgeon saving someones life and then he emerged with my $500 guitar sounding (not even plugged in)and playing like a precision $2500 Gretsch!
He didn't even charge me a penny for the nut work or extra adjustment when he took it back in! Sure, people need to be paid for their work. but this is a man who does a great job because he is compelled to use his gift with benevolence. It is now one of the best playing guitars I own. Super low action with improved sustain and fast, effortless playability! Thank you David, Mark and all the other employees at Westwood Music. I will do business there again!

Westwood Music never fails to amaze me. I bought my first electric guitar from them a couple months ago. They walked me through the process and let me take my time testing out the instrument in their awesome amp room. Over the last couple months, I have run into some unexpected issues with my guitar, which is normal when buying a new instrument, and they have taken great care of me and my guitar.
Every time I have a problem, they invite me to bring in my guitar, and they inspect and take care of the problem right on the spot, free of charge, with a smile and handshake. I do not think - and nobody should - that multiple free set-ups/repairs is something to be expected from any guitar shop, so I am always taken by surprise when they offer to do the work for free.
I may have paid a small premium to buy my guitar from their store instead of from some website or craigslist seller, but it has been more than worth it. I have saved at least $200 already as a result of their generous customer service. Westwood Music is an exceptional institution with an incredible, gracious staff, and I am so glad I got my guitar from them.
I feel like I'm part of the family now. I will never buy a guitar from any other store - best guitar shop in LA, hands down. Thank you, Westwood Music. Support your local shop!

I lost my wife's guitar during a cross-country move and needed a replacement ASAP. Mark showed me exactly what I was looking for, David restrung and tuned it, and everyone was very helpful. They provide an environment of honesty and sincerity without pushing you to buy this or that. They seem like a really good bunch of guys and I've enjoyed the transactions I've made with them. I highly recommend Westwood Music!

Have always had a great experience with the guys at Westwood Music. I went in to get my amp repaired and they took it right away and said they would send it to their amp repair guy, he got back to me within a week and the amp was good to go just a couple weeks later and for a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend going through these guys for any of your music needs, as well as lessons or repairs.

Spent our entire day yesterday combing LA looking for the luthier I like to work on my guitar. From Tarzana to Santa Monica, to Hollywood, and finally to Westwood. Mark was awesome, atmosphere was chill, and by far the best experience we had in any shop all day. Absolutely made my decision to do my business there, then and there. Highly recommend, even if just popping in to talk shop.

Started guitar less than 2 years ago. Despite knowing nothing, everyone is warm, patient, and encouraging (without being pushy). I take lessons with Jonah, who makes it fun. I bought my Fender Stratocaster here last year and a beautiful Martin 000 2 weeks ago. I'd much prefer to give my money to a store like this than a brick and mortar store. Great guys and I hope the store endures.
