Eleven strings and a soundbox producing a beautiful sound and vibration that is a joy to the heart! Harps of Lorien is a co-operative business with a mission to provide quality hand-crafted instruments for healing. These instruments are made with great care and attention to detail. It is in this way that the beauty and grain of the wood comes alive and finds its voice.
Each is unique and made to be carried forth into the world by those who choose to make beautiful music. We are a small cottage industry located in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains of Northern New Mexico.

Services
We are dedicated to the application of music, particularly harp music, to therapy and healing of mind, body, and spirit. We are community oriented and when available, choose local suppliers and products made in the U.S.A. Visitors are encouraged and we have welcomed many, including several visits from the local Waldorf School children. We appreciate the beautiful place where we live and choose to maintain it for future generations.
Raphael Weisman, the founder, had been making harps and Kinder Lyres, etc., and providing excellent service to Waldorf Schools, families, harpists, and harp therapists, for over 30 years. In 2011, he handed over the manufacture and management of the company to Michael and Terry Chastain, who are happy to continue the tradition of quality hand-crafted instruments for healing and for the family. They offer Kinder Lyres, Little Minstrels, and Therapy/Economy and Professional model harps. Michael Chastain has a talent for woodworking.
The name Lorien was inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, and is the home of the elves. The founder of Harps of Lorien, Inc, Raphael Weisman somewhat resembles an Elf himself. He has been making instruments and been involved in creative artwork for over 30 years. He studied Musical Instrument technology and design in London and was one of the few instrument builders in the forefront of the revival of Early Music in Europe.
Our therapy harps, the Raphael 26, Sasha 22, and Lorien 30 are lightweight and economical. They offer excellent tone for use in therapy work. Many harp practitioners working in hospitals and hospices are using these harps, delighted by their portability and quality of tone and craftsmanship. The Raphael 26 Therapy Harp is designed specifically for the work of bringing healing harp music to those in hospitals and nursing homes, and for vigils at the bedside of the dying. It has a warm, resonant tone but is not overpowering when used in a close setting with a patient.
