Top notch business. A La Crosse landmark. Owners are very caring and a delight to work with. Their magnificent, historic building is currently undergoing full restoration. Worth a visit for that reason alone.

Bought a piano here many years ago which has become a central piece. 4 kids all playing and stopped in for some sheet music while visiting the area. Everyone was still as friendly and helpful as ever.

I went in for a violin tuning for my daughter's school instrument. Not only did they immediately do this, they answered a couple questions I had and then didn't even want to charge me for it. They have been around 100+ years probably now for many good reasons.

A decently priced music store with a pretty good selection overall. The workers aren't very enthusiastic but they seem decently educated. My only gripe is I bought an instrument they claimed was just tuned very painstakingly, and playing it after purchase, it was very clearly out of tune. Not an easy fix for a beginner to make, either, as the tuning mechanisms are within the complex instrument. It's an alright store, but make sure you know you're stuff super well so you know you're making a good purchase.

What a great store and service. I'm a complete beginner, and I was making a relatively inexpensive purchase, but the owner took the time to talk to me about my options. I can tell he has a great love of music and wants to help others nurture their love of it too. Have been using Leitholds since the 1980s. For myself/siblings, and now my family. Sadly, both my children are using their rental program for band. This program allows you to rent indefinitely, and use up to two years of rental payments as credit towards the purchase of an instrument. Rental Information that wasn't noted : My son has a trumpet he has rented for a few years, but received a cheap student one for Christmas.

We have continued to rent and own for 3+ months, but cannot afford to do so since my husband lost his job. I went to return the rental and ask about their credit of two years rent towards the purchase of a trumpet. I had hoped next year we could buy him a nice instrument. Leitholds will not allow me to hold the credit until we have the money. They do not have any intermediate trumpets to purchase, and they will not allow me to use the credit towards a used professional option. Additionally when I asked about renting until a suitable option becomes available, they said they cant guarantee that will have any options outside of purchasing a very expensive professional grade model, immediately (to use the credit).

The only option is use the $480 credit now on something far advanced we cant afford and don't need, or lose it). Wow.glad I have been a loyal customer for over 30 years.
