Randy's store has many great violin selections. He recently hired a very experienced luthier to adjust many violins and they sound amazing after the adjustments. Randy is also very honest telling me if a violin has a fake label, rather than trying to sell me a violin that he knows is fake. I took my 11-year-old daughter to 6 local violin shops in Bay Area to select violins, and she said Randy's shop is one of the best shops.
Not because of the store setup, but because of the conversations she had with Randy. He inspired my daughter to practice more! How amazing! Although the store is not fancy, no classical European decorations, and not much room to walk in the store (because he has so many selections), it's clean, bright, organized, and conveniently located. Unlike what other reviews said, he doesn't charge us anything to borrow the violins for home trial. Randy has many violin, cello, and guitar selections from beginner to professional level. He also responds to the texts very quickly. I highly recommend his store to families who are looking to buy a violin, cello, or guitar.

If you are looking for a high end classical guitar, this is the place to go. I went in and talked with the owner and tried out a few guitars. He is extremely knowledgeable and understands what each player is looking for in an instrument: tone, price and playability which suits their personal tastes. He also has a great policy on exchanges if you ever want to upgrade from something you bought from him in the past.

Today I came in to buy first violin after 1 introduction class. I came here because it is a locally owned store near by and honestly best decision I made. I came in around 11pm and it was stuffed with various gorgeous instruments lining the walls. I called in asking for a beginners viloin with at budget of 400-500$. Randy got to work and we talked about my class and why I started learning.
We landed on a beautiful violin made in 1996. He even let me play a couple notes then demonstrated tuning. At that point I discovered he spoked Japanese and Spanish! After I introduced myself in both languages we switched between all 3 for the remaining of the time. He showed me how to care for my bow and got a case for me. Randy also explained the 100% trade in process for me. We then talked about different violins type and Guarneri's violin. Once we finished out the payment we said our goodbyes. Thank you Randy!

The owner is short with potential customers and he is insanely inappropriate. Extorted me when I simply wanted a quote. Tarisio was more than happy to take my instruments on auction one for the main auction another for their T2. The owner extorted $150 and demanded it either that or he would keep my two instruments. He was short with me and charged for "Wasting his time." I will NEVER refer anyone to this overpriced curmudgeon old man. He's no expert and a charlatan. He charges you $30 to open the store and to even talk to him. EVERYTHING is overpriced.

Contrary to the prevailing opinions in the reviews seen here, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this place. If you are looking for a violin family instrument or a classical or flamenco guitar, this guy has it. Sure, he has hundreds of instruments crammed into a space smaller than the bathrooms at one of the major chain music retailers, but they are some of the coolest stuff you'll find.
I had my eye on a beautiful 1930's Czech made bass fiddle. That's not something you will find at Showcase or Guitar Center. The owner, Randy, has a wealth of knowledge to share, and the patience to listen to even a complete novice like me. I walked in expecting "nothing to see here", and walked out an hour later far richer for the experience (but sadly, without the bass). Trolling music stores in the bay area for the last 40 years, I don't know how I managed to miss this place, but I'm glad I found it. It's a local treasure.

DO NOT GO THIS PLACE. owner is too grumpy, he charges the customers( 30$) to see or touch any music instrument!? I never heard somthing like this! also this store is too messy and dirty. DO NOT GO this place. I saw the advertise in craigslist for Felamenco Guitar for this store which incoraged & invited everybody to visit this store so I drove 20 minute to this place, that was a big mistake.
