The simple teardrop shape and thinner sound box gives the Old-Timer that bright, mountain sound. The body is made of birch laminate with solid walnut headpiece, tail block and fretboard. It has 4 strings, quality geared tuners, nickel siver frets, and a clear protective semi-gloss finish. The Old-Timer plays a 2 1/2 octave range and includes the 6 1/2 and 13 1/2 frets.
The dulcimer kits are about the same difficulty level as a model airplane. It requires fairly basic woodworking skills such as sanding, gluing, hand trimming, and putting on a finish. Only simple household tools are needed: sandpaper, coping saw or x-acto knife, drill, wire snips, file, glue & finish.
The Chord Stick's best feature is that YOU can play chords on it using only one finger! Anyone can sit in on a jam session with a Chord Stick even if they have never played anything else. The Chord Stick makes a perfect companion to the Mountain Dulcimer. We offer the Chord Stick in 4 different models.

The nicest people you'll ever meet work in this shop. Even if you have zero experience, you will learn to play at least one song before you leave. We come to Branson from Texas every year and always stop in, sometimes just to say "hi", but (more often than not) to buy something new. It's all in the attitude, and this shop is the best.

I ordered their Solid Body Electric Dulcimer and received it yesterday. I've been playing dulcimer professionally for about five years and honestly, it's the finest I have ever played! I cannot stress how satisfied I am with the instrument; not only does it sound amazing but it is a beautiful work of hand-made craftsmanship. There were expected delays with the production and shipping of the Dulcimer, but it was definitely worth the wait!
Their customer service was incredibly patient and helpful, providing updates and even calling me to ask about my playing preferences in order to make adjustments and upgrades to the instrument. I have been wanting a dulcimer for most of my life, and cedar creek dulcimers made that dream come true! I ordered over the phone and the customer service was incredible. They walked me through the different woods, sound hole cuts, and what would be best for what I wanted. I didn't go to the store, I ordered a dulcimer from Cedar Creek's website. I still received wonderful service. They kept me updated on every aspect, even so far as to call me about availability of my selection. To top off the customer service, I ordered on a Saturday, I had the Dulcimer in my hand on the following Wednesday. And as for the Dulcimer itself. Wow!
It is a beautiful instrument, it sounds great, it feels wonderful, and it came with some beginner supplies (extra strings, picks, noter, and a songbook). I am more happy than I could have predicted with everything about my purchase from this maker. Great Job, Cedar Creek!
