Store was clean, and the sales associate was friendly. They carry a limited selection of electric and acoustic guitars and a few basses. Fender and Ibanez. Mostly entry to mid level stuff. I saw a few percussion items; no acoustic drums or cymbals. They did have an e-kit on the floor. I definitely choose to buy local whenever possible. I was looking for a specific set of bass strings. They indicated they can order what I needed. Took my son in to buy some guitar accessories and he walked out with everything on his list so that was cool.

Albany Sound & Music is a truly standout business. I've been in the market for a 12-string guitar for well over 2 months. I do want a quality guitar, but have a limited budget. My search focused on used guitars from a reliable shop. I visited many stores, and called nearly every store in the mid Willamette Valley. In every case, I spoke with a live person.
It just so happened that I called Albany Sound & Music during their off-hours, and got their voicemail. I left them a message, explaining in detail what I was looking for. The ONLY store who called me back was Albany Sound & Music. It was Julian, explaining that they did not have ANY 12-strings at that time, but assured me they were expecting a shipment within weeks or so (of new guitars).
I was discouraged overall, but it made me smile that Julian had at least called me back. However, weeks passed and none of the stores I'd contacted had reached out to me with any prospects. I finally reached a point (in my life; I'm 64 yrs old) that it was just not in the cards for me to buy a 12-string while I was still able to play one. Just days ago, I suddenly had a message from Julian: their shipment arrived with a single 12-strinmg guitar.
It's a Fender CD 60 SCE electric/acoustic, and it was brand new, yet within my budget. I went in that same day and sat and played the guitar. It was everything I'd been searching for - AFFORDABLE, quality instrument, acoustic/electric, with a built-in electronic tuner. Julian was knowledgeable, focused on my needs, and extremely patient as I made my decision.
I highly recommend this store and in particular, Julian. From my voicemail weeks ago, he persisted to meet my needs. In fact, of all the stores I'd contacted over the last 2 months, Albany Music & Sound treated me as a valued customer, long before I ever bought anything. I should add that since I started playing guitar at age 15 (that's 49 years), of all the guitar shops I've come across, this one is a star stand-out.

Had an accordion gig that night and knew my practice amp wouldn't cut it. I had a small budget. These guys were helpful and knowledgeable. They not only showed me a great amp within my budget, they also explained why a stand would really maximize the affectiveness of the amp. Great investment on a budget price and great reviews after the gig. I couldn't be happier with my experience there

I bought my first guitar at Albany Music 14 years ago. I'm still playing it today and play in a band now. John, the owner, is awesome. He is so helpful with all of my questions and always gets me the best prices. I always try to buy all of my music supplies there. It feels great to shop local. I really appreciate having a great music store right here in the Mid Valley. Check it out, you will like it!
