We have served Southern Oregon musicians since 1985 with our full service shop including Rentals (short and long term), sales and consignments, repair and insurance appraisals.

Bellwood Violin is located in Ashland, Oregon, a small town rich in culture and surrounded by beautiful forests and mountains. With the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Southern Oregon University, and six orchestras, as well as the neighboring Britt Festival, the need for a local luthier shop committed to classical music instruments was highly apparent when the shop began in 1985.
At Bellwood Violin our goal is to provide you with a high quality instruments to fit your specific budget range. Our rental program rates start at $15 per month for violins and violas, and $45 per month for cellos. Exact rental fee depends on the value of the instrument. This plan allows you to build equity for up to 12 months which can be applied toward the purchase of an instrument. Ask a shop rep for details. Our on-location luthiers adjust all our rental instruments to make your musical journey the smoothest possible.
Bellwood Violin has the largest selection of new and used string instruments and accessories available in Southern Oregon. We have a variety of instruments available including violins, violas, celli, and bass. Choose from our shop adjusted instruments, a large selection of consignment instruments which vary from the level of beginner to professional musician. Stop in to see and try out our instruments!

By appt only, but they got me in within a few hours, same day. Amazing store w some really beautiful instruments; some antique & special ones I'd never heard of. Was fun to just look around. Had everything we needed to start up violin lessons. Great prices, very knowledgeable & super friendly. Would definitely recommend. I never even knew this store was here!

Last summer I was gifted an old viola that needed some love. I made my way down to Bellwood and had an amazing experience. Although all of the staff was out and I'm sure Stephen was busy, he took the time to find me a case, install a sound post, and install and tune up strings. In the meantime, we chatted, and I found him to be an enjoyable character. He wished me luck in my new career and I left ecstatic, the same day, with my new Viola.

I live 6 hours away from Ashland OR, yet this is the only shop I will bring my string instruments to. Most recent: a 1905 German fiddle all dried out, huge crack through the back, totally trashed out; I had no hope for it. Mr. Bacon brought it back to life, through his consumate craftsmanship and TLC. Big Plus: he will meet you at his shop on odd hours, if you call ahead. This shop is highly recommended to you; you will not be disappointed.

I rented instrument for many months and they are very nice and accommodating. Even though they are closed on Saturday still we can call and make appointment if they are available. Above that whatever rent we paid can be used to buy instrument. Up to one year of rental fees can be adjusted against purchase. Very nice place.
