As a life long customer, I'm sad to see Durdel's Music closing shop. But hey, still have the memories! The first time I went in the 90s - Van Halen cardboard cutout on the door, Fender, Gibson, Martin guitars on the walls. Drums in the side room. Great music playing. And excellent music instructors - can't do them justice in one review. All I can say is that this is and will always be a music store by and for musicians - not some corporate money pit. A real place to indulge in music and musicianship. Eat your heart out guitar center!

I've been shopping for guitars for 30 years now. I just bought a guitar from Durdel's Music in Toledo Ohio and I can say this was the best experience I've had purchasing a guitar. It wasn't an in-person deal but the staff was accommodating and very patient over the phone. I got a great deal and they included some strings. All in all, very happy.

Durdel's Music is a great place for guitars, either in the shop or on line. I have purchased one each way. (Both Reverends, a Stu D Baker and a Club King RT. Wonderful guitars.) Fred is great. They are very knowledgeable about the various guitars and will help you find the right one for you. They are not 'locked in' to the same old names. They have terrific instruments made by G&L, the true Fender Guitar, and various guitars made by Reverend Guitars.

Both brands have great fit and finish with superb playability and tone. Plus they have quite a few beyond these brands. Do not waste your hard earned cash at the Evil Empire. Go see Fred at Durdel's.

My wife wanted to get back into playing guitar after a 30-plus year absence, except for some ukulele playing recently. We visited three other guitar shops in Toledo today and stopped in to Durdel's Music since we'd never been there before. What a beautiful store with a wonderful selection of guitars (and so clean and orderly). Fred and his wife Alice were top-notch, friendly, knowledgeable and there was no pressure.

We tried everything in our price range and ended up with a sweet Yamaha FS800 guitar, gig bag and stand. The prices were lower than anyone else (even on-line) and the personal service, great guitar playing by Fred was outstanding. I can say it was one of the best buying experiences in our memory. I now have my eye on an Acoustic Electric (and amp) as soon as I improve my skills. Thanks to Fred and Alice for a wonderful experience!

Recently bought a new Reverend guitar from Durdel's and couldn't have been happier with the service. The owner and staff were all friendly and extremely helpfull as I played many different guitars to find the one for me. They even brought in a guitar they didn't have in stock so I could try it out. Highly recommend this store!

Super friendly, good selection of absolutely beautiful guitars. Just stopped in to check out the store, and picked up some patch cables. And I was impressed, very clean, and well organized. Will definitely be going back for my next guitar purchase.

Durdel's is great. I ordered a bass guitar online, and received it in perfect shape. Got a really good deal on a Reverend prototype before the production run was available. My first Reverend, and I absolutely love it. I'll be shopping Durdel's for my next Reverend. Great customer service from Durdel's and Reverend staff. Fred and Alice were friendly and helpful. Wish this was my local music shop.

Bought my first guitar at this West Toledo landmark as a teen in the mid-eighties (a black Gibson SG Special). Even then I was impressed with Fred's knowledge, patience, and personable qualities. 30 years later, I still shop at Durdel's Music because small businesses matter to me. When you buy a guitar from Durdel's, you're not just making a transaction; you're joining a family.

I recently purchased a Reverend Flatroc electric guitar from Durdel's Music, and couldn't be more pleased with the experience! I spent a lot of time online looking for the Flatroc, and emailed several businesses that had it in stock. Durdel's was hands down the fastest to respond (5 stars for responsiveness). I asked each place the same question; what was the best price they could offer, including a hard case, shipped to the Seattle area. Durdel's offered me a price that was better than anyone else. And, not only did they include the Reverend hardshell case and ship it to me for free, they also performed a complete setup before it went out (5 stars each for value, customer service, and shipping).

I received the guitar, in perfect playing condition, 1 week from the day I ordered it. I recently took a guitar in to a local shop for a set up, and it took 2 weeks to get it back. When I did get it back, the tech had messed up the edges of the neck, and it was gone for another 10 days while he fixed his mistake (5 stars to Durdel's for promptness and attention to detail). Thank you Durdel's! It has been a great buying experience from beginning to end, and I will definitely shop there again!

I wanted a certain Martin, the 12 string performing artist model, and Durdel's had the instrument at a good price. They answered all my questions, promptly shipped, and provided me with a tracking number. The guitar arrived in flawless condition. I know if I had bought it locally it would have come with some wear and tear from spare time showroom abuse. Buying a guitar online might seem unthinkable to many old timers, and I was skeptical at one time, but Durdel's has helped eliminate my concerns. I recommend them over any big box outlet, and I will look to them first for new instrument purchases, regardless of the distance.
